gomericus
Good morrow fellow citizens of the interweb. SO I have a question and would really love some feedback/ideas My IG/AM army has a very strong napoleonic theme,,the main army is mordians painted red and white,,empire cannon chassis for my 12 lascannons, rough riders, green jacketed riflemen as ratlings, ect. Now with the griffon going the way of the squats,,,and with the rules and points cost for the wyverns I am left with a quandary. For the griffons I built two field guns but with the wyverns being quad guns I tried a mock up of my previous build and it wouldnt look right at all, So I am thinking, plastic empire tanks converted up to be the right size and what not.How do you fine folks think that would come out? Dark_Apostle_XVII
To be honest, I see no reason you could not still use the models you made for the Griffon as a Wyvern. I would personally have no problem with it as it fits your theme far better than steam tanks. But then I love armies like yours with a rich theme and character so I am very much up for less wysiwyg in order to gain the 'right' look and theme. Frater Cornelius
Take an empty chimera platform with 2 mortar teams on it. Like a Carriage carrying them, just mechanized one. gomericus
well I am trying to stick to my theme of a foot guard army without tanks,or at least modern looking ones. That is why I am pondering the steam tanks, they would look somewhat older/less techy and or steam punkish. I had looked at some multibarrel rocket batteries, but the problem there is having them be the right size to represent a tank, ala the right height, width ect. And I may just use the siege guns I built as a stand in if I can not come up with anything else. David Ravel
Personnally I play Tanith, so I was in the same boat as you. Except for some Scout Salamander, I didn't wanted heavy tank. So I builded platform stuff. For the Wyvern, I ordered (have not yet received them) some Thudd Gun from Forgeworld. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/DefaultFW/large/thuddg.jpg It's pretty much a non-tank version of the Wyvern i.e. 4 cannon, very barrage/small artillery. I will modify them a little and play them as count-as Wyvern. I will not move them since I will do a cool base and stuff, but who really moves around his piece of artillery anyway ? WarriorFish
Why haven't we seen your army yet? That's a great theme! As David said a nice artillery piece on a Chimera chassis size base should be workable. It'd be easy to treat it as the vehicle in game terms that way, and if your opponents were really picky about the details you could build an entrenchment wall the the same height as the chassis at the front for measuring purposes? Kierdale
I too want to see this army! :) I think steamtanks converted to have some kind of quad launcher turrets would be fine. That or simply add more barrels to your counts-as Griffons. If we could see some photos of your army it would help us visualise and make better suggestions ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292504-wyvern-stand-inscounts-as/#findComment-3720838 Share on other sites
Bonzi
You should look at WHFB artillery options. The Helblaster or Helstorm + wickerbasket siege fortification around it would well represent a Wyvern in both size and look. http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Empire-Helblaster-Volley-Gun http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Empire-Helstorm-Rocket-Battery Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292504-wyvern-stand-inscounts-as/#findComment-3720851 Share on other sites

gomericus
So should I just use my siegeguns as counts as wyverns,or modify them,or what do you folks think? WarriorFish
They look too large and impressive to be mere Wyverns in my opinion, but with counts as you have more leeway. They're also too cool to be modded! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292504-wyvern-stand-inscounts-as/#findComment-3725596 Share on other sites
gomericus
well originally they were modeled so that they would have the right size and dementions of a chimera chassis. So that they would have the correct line of sight and what not for shooting and getting shot at,also so that I could use them as stand in griffons or basilisks if i ever dropped the points on them. gomericus
Well after spending some time helping clean the house, resulting in me finding a bits tub I had hidden from myself I have decided to create my own thud gun like cannon. Using four empire cannons and other various bits. I will make a base the size of a chimera,a small wheeled heavy flamer somewhat like the old IG heavy weapons and add details and what not to turn it into a mini diorama.
