Building a squad of strikes, one piece of plastic at a time

I decided to try a GK Libby as an ally for my IG, partly for daemon insurance, and partly because IG don't have access to ML3. And if it works out well, I may just upgrade to a tiny GK CAD in order to make the libby my (less squishy) warlord. And from there, who knows...maybe a PAGK list in its own right?

For now, I'm slowly (since I have ELT vows to complete, and want to finish my stormtrooper air cav formation before getting too deep into the next big thing) building up five strikes. Looking at the sprue, I saw two shoulder pads that look remarkably similar to deathwatch shoulder pads. Do GK serve in the deathwatch? That would surprise me...whether they do or not, the shoulder pads are FANTASTIC, and I had eight of them laying around, so my first five-man strike squad will all have those opposite the chapter pad, in lieu of their personal heraldry (although, as the fluff says, heraldry can go anywhere, not just on the shoulder pad, so maybe they'll get it on a knee or something...later). So how does this look, so far?

Those two pads in the sprue are meant for the squad's Justicar (i.e. Sergeant).  The one that you put on your model's right arm in the pics would go on the Justicar's left arm, and the similar pad with the name scroll goes on his right arms.

Ah, well, I never was all that much of a traditionalist.  My DA have black bolters instead of red...  I do appreciate the explanation of the purpose of the two pads on the sprue!  I think my Justicar will get the scroll one on the sprue to set him apart from the other four, who will get the deathwatch pads.  I'm really disappointed in the writing on the scroll on the leg in the last pic, that's already been removed for redoing.
