Help with 3 way games list

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. My friends and I play 3 way games all against all. We've already established rules, deployment sections and what have you. And we play normal games in the 7th rulebook. But as a grey knights player, I'm finding it extremely difficult dividing my already small force appropriately to fairly play against 2 opponents at the same time.

I've tried all out beat on the 1 opponent, then moving on to the next, but this caused certain players to feel targeted (being a bítch).

So I'm calling on your guys experience! one player uses primarily tau. Mainly suited guys now because of my incinerators and always has a riptide. And my other opponent uses plague Marines. This player always uses the nurgle lord biker death star and plague Marines + 2 plasma in rhinos + dirge casters and a defiler and occasionally a hellturkey.

I try to run at the tau, they get shot, I try to run at the plagues, they get assaulted by nurgle bikers.

So what units would you take and why? I don't want to focus on one enemy (although the bikers tend to be in my face turn 2)

Thanks guys!

Never played a 3 way game before. 2 players on one side with half the points each against the third but not three. Anyway with that in mind I would take a shunting list with Mordrak, shunt to the back of one army so when the other army gets there my army will not be the first target.

its a tough one, I've played a few and I found that shooty armies do very well just gunlining and waiting for the other two to annihilate each other. I'd say just Deep strike into the midst of the one with the most guns, (explain this to the player so he doesn't get upset).

Shunting works amazingly well against squishy tau. But after a shunt I can't assault. So everything else spam shoots me and basically renders multiple 300+ point units 1 hit wonders. And it's generally a bad idea assaulting the bikers. Blight grenades and toughness 6 with some fists and lighting claws puts the hurt on interceptors. :-/ especially with a nurgle lord with hatred and high weapon skill with both fist and claw

And we play 1750 normally. But during the summer holidays will be 2000 points

I love deepstriking. But with tau interceptors, various pie plates (riptide /defiler /hellturkey) and the fact I can't assault the same turn, it's generally a worse choice than shunting. Such a pickle I'm in haha

2k I'd be looking at something like this;

HQ:

Coteaz

(100 points)

Inquisitor w/force sword+bolt pistol, Mastery 1

(55 points)

Grandmaster w/halberd, rad+blind grenades, digital weapons

(205 points)

Elites:

Flame Knight w/halberd, Purifier w/hammer, 4 x Purifiers w/halberds, 4 x Purifiers w/psycannons

(295 points)

Troops:

Justicar w/halberd, Terminator w/Bro Banner, 2 x Terminators w/hammer+psycannon, 2 x Terminators w/hammers,

4 x Terminators w/halberds

(475 points)

(2) Psyker w/laspistol, 3 x Servitor w/plasma cannon

(70 points each)

Fast Attack:

Justicar w/hammer, 9 x Interceptors

(270 points)

Heavy Support:

(2) Dreadknight w/greatsword, teleporter

(230 points each)

Total: 2,000 points

Coteaz and Inquisitor join the servitors to prevent mindlock, and provide re-rolls via 'Prescience'. This plus your Purifiers will keep the enemy out of your DZ and cover the advance of the Terminators. Meanwhile, your Interceptors and Dreadknights can shunt into enemy lines and quickly take out the Tau's battlesuits.

I'd focus down the Tau player first, as the Nurgle deathstar will evapourate to your melee (S6 and force will everything he has, including the Biker Lord). Don't forget to challenge the Biker Lord with your Grandmaster, he can't refuse, and you'll most likely kill him before he can swing (I7, S6 AP3 and force).
