badgermeister
Hi I'm planning a game of zone mortalis for in a week or so's time. I'll take my zone mortalis board down the club and apart from my usual growing mechanicus army ive got a small amount of death guard on the go now. I'm planning a 1k aside game and although i currently have Typhon and 10 x deathshroud i was wondering how well they play and what to avoid doing with them? I had plans to run Typhon + 5 x deathshroud (all with MBs) 5 x Deathshroud (all with MBs) 10 x breachers (1 x MB) I have been looking at getting the grave guard but AP4 weaponry isnt all that i guess. On a plus i am trying to coax other gamers at the club to take the plunge and join the 30k side so if grave guard arent all that bad i may just pick some up in time? Whats your thoughts folks? Typhon denies anyone within 3" an objective. Deathshrouds count as scoring. Breachers because they look awesome! Enigami
I've been played with Deathshroud in nearly all of my games the past six months and Grave wardens in about a 1/3 of my games. First my take on Deathshrouds: I very much enjoy using them and have a had a lot of success running a squad of 5 w/MB. I have found when running them that I do not like running them with Typhon. He takes up too many points for my taste. A slightly less flashy Praetor for me runs around 150 saving me 50 points vs Typhon. I also haven't found the need to run more than 5 in a squad. At that size they almost always handle most enemies efficiently. I would rather have two scoring squads of 5 for 10 more points than a big squad of 10. Grave Wardens. I haven't used them as much as my deathshroud, but enough to know that I think they are very good unit aside from being a heavy support choice. I would run them more if they weren't competing with my other heavies since I love my predator squadrons, medusas, and heavy weapons squads. I run 5-7 with 2 chainfists. 5 is a couple too few to me. I want a couple extra bodies. To me the base price seems very cheap for termies with PF, better guns, and some added bells and whistles. They have absolutely wrecked shop in my games against anything but marines through the use of their toxin rules. Against marines they have performed better than normal catph. terminators because of the slight boost in shooting and the amount of hits they can put on a densely organized unit. badgermeister
i'll probably pick some up just to get the folks looking in and if the guys who get the orks want to bring them then they will be useful! i'm stuck with typhon but i imagine i'll expand my baord so shouldnt be a problem to jump up 250-500pts on the army list for some bigger games Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292612-death-guard-specialist-units-how-good-are-they/#findComment-3721599 Share on other sites
