Question on cadians

Hello,

as a space wolves player that might want to start an allied detachment i have one question.

as i was looking at pictures of the sprues of the cadian shock troops i saw that all the torsos have a extending part for backpacks but there are no backpacks (exept for the vox-caster and the flamer fuel container) included in the box.

so, is there a place to get cadian backpacks on the cheap or how do you otherwise cover these extentions?

That extension's not for a backpack to go on (a-la marines). What exactly it is supposed to be I do not know. Perhaps it contains bio-sensors, part of a com link, digital version of dog tags, IFF transponder...

There are backpacks in heavy weapons team kits that you can put on your guard (though you may have to cut those back boxes off to fit the backpacks on). Or simply GS some backpack yourself over those boxes. That's what I did.

The only addition your Guardsmen really need is the pouch and flask attachment smile.png Back packs are good for Heavy Weapon Team troops and for spicing Veterans up, the FW kit Sviar mentions is great for this.

TL;DR is don't worry about them tongue.png

well, i kinda want heating backpacks as they will be cadians that are stolen by my great company after decades of campaining and thus live on fenris

It's a great kit with extras that are ideal for Veterans. However since you've mentioned hostile environments and we're on Forge World have you seen these:

Hostile Environment Command Squad

Hostile Environment Infantry Squad

Hostile Environment Plasma Squad

Hostile Environment Melta Squad

They're pretty cool, I'm tempted to get some when a spare ship comes in :tu: Not ideal for building a larger force of them though, but when you want to go to that detail it's going to cost in some form. Do you have an extensive bits box? I've seen some clever uses of cut down Marine packs used for Guardsmen, and with a bit of GS work you could give them the hostile environment look.
