Heavy Support Squads. How do you arm yours?

I personally can vouch for volkites. Even aiming them at 2+ save units is awesome

So, is it just the number of shots that makes them awesome?

If so, then what about Rotors?

I even just ran calivers not the big ones but they sure as hell can put out a bunch of shots.

The difference between rotors and volkites is that volkites have a much higher strength, and deflagrate, which are able to force lots of wounds on terminators

I love my 10 autocannons. They never fail me.

Recently started using MLs instead, but it seems like the ten extra shots helped more than the extra point of STR and AP.(although it was kind of funny when I wiped a squad of Berserkers off the table the second they stepped out of a Rhino that had just weathered almost 30 ML shots.)

With the change in vehicle damage I'm probably going to finally put together the 5 MK 2 Lascannon bearers I've had resting peacefully in my resin tomb.

Never tried Volkite. Might give it a shot. I generally keep my weapons less exotic so that I can still get 40k pick up games. If things look too crazy people generally opt out because "its forgeworld so it must be OP."

Are there any recommendations for how Tactical Support or Heavy Support Squads would fit into an Orbital Assault RoW army? Do you think Volkite Calivers would still be the preferred weapon for Tactical Support, despite being heavy and having to snap fire?

With 7th edition and scoring drop pods, it seems like dropping long range shooters onto your our backfield objectives may not be the worst idea, but the idea of losing up to two turns of shooting isn't really appealing for an expensive unite like Lascannon or Missile Launcher Heavy Supports.

What has worked for people running this sort of list so far?
