Leman Russ proxy? Usable?

Hitech minitures have posted pictures of their Space Viking leader - 'Odin'!  Seems like a good proxy/substitute for a Leman Russ model until Forgeworld bless us with theirs.  The size is more or less spot on though.  Page is HERE for anyone interested.

Personally, I prefer to wait - even though the green seems like an excellent sculpt.

Oh, that looks pretty coo - wait, this isn't a tank!

This does look like the Fenrisian Wolf himself, pretty deliberately I'd wager. The green sculpt looks gorgeously detailed, though, but then it's all about how much the mould retains of that detail. I have no idea if Forge World have Russ coming any time soon, either.

This Reman Luss guy seems like a good stand-in for now. Personally, I'd rather not buy an expensive proxy if the plan is to buy the real deal later on.

I've seen this model before, and I think it is hideous. Mostly it's due to his armor. The way it's stacked makes the model look too bulky for my tastes.

I agree, granted it's soooo much better a sculpt than I could do... However... It just looks badly proportioned to me. Anyone who ever complained about the Ragnar model being static in its pose, should also level their comments against this model too.

So a quick search (not entirely necessary) of Google Images for Leman Russ shows stacked plate armor in nearly every instance.....and you have a problem with it.....right?  The model has been around for some time and I think it is an excellent option for those with less than expert GS skills.  Even the model from Scibor has stacked plate armor...which according to canon is what was what the Primarch wore and was wearing at the time of his departure.

The stubby looking armor makes a stubby looking figure look even more stubby. He's as wide as he is tall.

It is my personal opinion, call me out on that one as well, Growler...
