Any recommendation on vehicles for both 30k and 40k game?

Hello, I'm currently trying to build an army that's usable for both 30k (using Legion rules) and 40k (using Codex).

 

Marine models can count either way since they are just... Marines, with different cosmetics. All I need to do is just watch out for some equipment. But some HH vehicle models/rules, such as Sicaran, Fire Raptor, etc, are just not present in 40k Rules. I also want to avoid vehicles with FW-version 40k rules, such as Predator Excutioner, etc, to avoid any dispute ("No you cannot use this since it's FW rule and not in Codex." kind of thing. Hope my future opponents are more forgiving than that.)

 

So, I would like to buy effective (I have only so much budget to buy ) fire-support vehicles that are present in both HH and Codices. What I can think of right now are Predator, Dreadnought, and WW... Well, some will be better than others, while others will be worse.

 

Any suggestions or recommendations? I think I can argue Contemptors and Scorpius as "just some Pattern difference, minor cosmetics change" if I try hard. Of course I'll have to match Dreadnought weapons with Contemptors, but only that aside....

If you have access to Imperial Armour 2 Second edition, there is provision to include some heresy era vehicles in your 40k army. Page 79 has the Relic Sicaran Battle Tank. You can only have one unless you comply with some special rules.

Yeah, but he specifically says that he doesn't want to have to deal with people bellyaching about FW rules, so no IA2.

 

It's hard to go wrong with Predators.  I use a squad of 3 with Predator Autocannons (heavy 4 in 30k) and lascannon sponsons, and they've got respectable firepower, a lot of redundancy, and a lot of durability.  You can use either GW's predators or FW's deimos predators for yours.  Both patterns were present in the Heresy, and the deimos predators are still around as relics in 40k.  The deimos sponsons are like 8 pieces each and hard to magnetize for heavy bolter swaps, but you could magnetize the turret weapon very easily if you want to swap between tri-las in 40k and the autocannon in 30k (the Predator Annihilator was not yet in invented in 30k).

 

Land Raiders are present in both.  Again, you can use the GW kit or the FW Mk2b land raider, but you cannot use Crusader or Redeemer variants.  Standard land speeders are present in both lists, but 30k also has Javelins which are not present in 40k.  There are no razorbacks in 30k.

Which 40k codex you use could also have an impact; as an example, the Blood Angel Baal Predator can be represented with a FW Predator Infernus...

 

Overall, looking trough Codex: Space Marines, easy fits could be :

- Javelin Attack Speeder with Missile Launcher

- Deimos Pattern Predator

- Whirlwind Scorpius

- Vindicator

- MkIIb Land Raider

- Contemptor dreadnought (with appropriate weaponry; don't forget an Ironclad can have two close combat weapons too...)

- hell, you could even field jetbikes as attack bikes, or dreadclaws as regular drop pods if you like the aestetics...
