2000 point salamander list

Hey everyone. Just wanted to show my salamander list. If you noticed I don't use anything to 30k ish, this is so if my opponent refuses to let me play 30k I can easily switch to 40k. Here is the list

2000 point salamander legion list

Covenant of fire rite of war

HQ - legion praetor with master crafted thunder hammer, iron halo, mantle of the elder drake, combi-plasma, dragonscale stormshield and digital lasers - 215

HQ - 5 man legion command squad - each with combat shield,2 axes, 2 swords and 1 with power fist all master crafted, one axeman has a banner and 1 swordsmen has a combi-plasma in rhino - 290

HQ - Librarian master level 3 - 135

HQ - Cassian Dracos - 275

Elites - Apothecary - 45

Troops - 10 man legion squad with additional close combat weapons and sergeant with master-crafted combi- flamer in rhino - 220

Troops - legion support squad with 5 meltas in rhino - 210

The libby and apothecary will go with the command squad in the rhino.The plan is to just rush the enemy with rhinos. I will have the pyroclasts go into the rhinos turn one since they cant take them as dedicated transport. In the future I hope to replace the dreadnought with two preds with sponson lascannons. Let me know what you think

This looks like a fun list, although you might struggle against armor lists, and terminator heavy armies with tons of 2+ saves.

 

Also, Librarians can no longer buy a 3rd mastery level. That was removed in the updated Crusade army list.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, you are buying two Rhino's as their own troops slots - I don't believe you can do that. They have to be bought for a unit that has the option on their profile. Pyroclasts would obviously benefit from a rhino, but you'd have to steal them off your tactical squads, or find a way to buy them a landraider!

 

Athrawes is correct about your weakness to armour - specifically armour at range. You could think about swapping the command squad in power armour for a squad of firedrakes, and maybe dropping the melta squad and squeeze in a spartan. This would give you some lovely quad lascannons, a way to deliver a combat squad which is FAR more durable than the version you have here. The problem remains finding a way to grant mobility to your pyroclasts though - you might be able to buy a Landraider Proteus by pooling your 10men squads in to a 20 man blob, your 2 pyros into one 10 man squad and dropping the librarian. So:

This leaves you 70 points for upgrading the spartan/landraider and firedrakes as you see fit (flareshield and probably ceramitre on the spartan, and a few more toys for the drakes if I were you).l

 

Its still a transport heavy in-your-face kind of list, but this is obviously smaller, more elite, but more durable. There are 3 armour 14 vehicles, all with bonus saves versus a range of weapons and move through cover from the rite of war. You original list could well work, but I'm scared for the survival of multiple small power armoured squads in paper thin rhinos...
