WarriorFish
Thanks, I'll see if I can update the primer this week. In between ETL painting, of course! march10k
I think it's worth considering deliberate direct-fire bassies. Pay the 30 points for an enclosed crew compartment and camo netting, then park them in a ruin for a 3++. For five points more than a LRBT, you get +1S on the pieplate, the ability to target non-LOS enemies beyond 36", the ability to ignore a lot of cover saves (since area terrain is gone), and always resolve vehicle hits against side armor. Naturally, you're AV 12/10/10, and that is a big downside...but with a 3+ save? Manageable. I really love the idea of shooting point-blank at a deffrolla that's bearing down on me, and resolving against AV12. Kierdale
That reminds me: a spare Baneblade turret makes for an excellent enclosed Basilisk (if you made one of the Shadowsword varients from the kit instead). Who was it who had done one... Will have to track it down when I have time and link an image. march10k
OOOH! I WANT! A "proper" enclosed bassie from FW is 56 pounds sterling, but I have the leftover sprue from building my shadowsword... Frater Cornelius
So, what you are saying is that a prescienced 'lisk is actually worth considering to avoid front armour and blow up troops? In a list that has loads (and I mean loads) of anti infantry at 24"-36", but only meched up meltas to deal with tanks, would it be reasonable to exchange Wyvern against 'lisks? It helps with ranged AT, especially since it avoids the mostly stronger front armour and effectively ignores cover against most things? 2 'lisks cost 250, 2 Wyvern cost 130, so the question is whether 'lisks are worth that 120 mark-up. Arkaniss
I love the old fashioned Basilisk! I need to read up on all these new psychic powers it seems they will have a large impact on the game in 7th Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292879-your-preferred-artillery/page/2/#findComment-3728255 Share on other sites

If you take platform (the one with T7 etc.) it cost 150 for 2 basilisk. Also, you can give them orders since they are not tank. That means you can give them ignore cover, tank hunter, etc. which is fun. I'm not saying don't take wyvern, I do. But don't count the old earthshaker cannon out yet. Also, the basilisk is a fething badass model. Frater Cornelius
Platforms are FW. I want to avoid FW since tourneys rarely accept it in Germany. As it stand, the question is whether to bring the actual Basilisk Tank. Also, seeing as I have only 1 HS slot availible, the choice really comes down to 'kill more infantry' or 'kill more tanks and infantry but less infantry than Wyvern, though more tanks than Wyvern'. David Ravel
Then you are right. I would also go with Wyvern. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292879-your-preferred-artillery/page/2/#findComment-3728387 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Then you are right. I would also go with Wyvern. In fact, I am actually leaning towards the 'lisks. I just need to play test them and find out whether they fit the list. march10k
an S9 ordnance large blast that resolves against side armor is basically auto-pen against most tanks. combine that with the attack coming from the center of the template when shooting troops and the earthshaker cannon is a monster. I would take it over even my beloved griffon! CoffeeGrunt
It's a pity that the 'Lisk suffers from the alterations to the Vehicle Damage Table. You'll hurt things really hard most of the time, but there's no chance of bringing it down in one hit. That said, simply blowing the main gun off a tank, Stunning it, or Immobilising it is worth a go. Still, I prefer throwing Melta up field, so that under the deluge of lethal fire a few men clamber over the corpses of their fellows to melt that tank and then die in the subsequent explosion. ThatOneMarshal
For me it's an earthshaker with either tank hunters or ignore cover. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292879-your-preferred-artillery/page/2/#findComment-3729436 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Are the Earthshaker platforms valid targets for orders? Seems brutal..! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292879-your-preferred-artillery/page/2/#findComment-3729464 Share on other sites

ThatOneMarshal
Are the Earthshaker platforms valid targets for orders? Seems brutal..! Yup, the platforms arent considered vehicles you can also do the same thing with the thudd guns and medusas if you are feeling nasty. The gun carriages are one of the reasons why I play the inferior dkok siege list compared to the assualt brigade. hendrik
why not try to construct one in plasticard? http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/IMG_20140519_232508_zpsrocznkbq.jpg it was an easy mod, just use paper to design the armoured cockpit and when happy with that, construct it from plasticard.
