A single-shot D weapon isn't all that nowadays. Especially when mounted fixed-forward on a unit with awkward movement rules. Given the 45 degree angle of fire, it acutally has to be fairly distant to line up that one shot.

Yet you can buy a Baneblade for half the dollah and it'll drop D Blasts like there's no tomorrow.

Pedantry aside, it's a Baneblade variant. That's a bit like going, "That's not a Leman Russ, it's a Leman Russ Executioner!"

Actually, your example is more pedantic. A Baneblade is a very specific Superheavy Tank, just like a Shadowsword is. A less pedantic example would be a M24 Chaffee and M41 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer: both are built from the same chassis, but they definitely not the same thing.

See that little symbol in the upper right corner of the page?  looks like a skull and a gear and a T?  It's defined way back in the Apocalypse book, on page 68.  it's an Apocalypse Formation for a Super Heavy Walker.  Now,a  force org symbol for a Lord of War is an armored fist, held high.

So changing the gun makes it an entirely different tank?

Anyway, if I am reading my copy of Damocles correctly, it has "Apocalypse" written in very prominent letters on the front cover. This would confirm to me, RAW, that it is for Apocalypse.

In some cases, yes. In the baneblade? Not really.

Was just confirming that with the guys above, as it seemed their point was that changing the main weapons changes the entire tank and its naming.

Well the naming will always change based on any variety of upgrades or modifications. However, the gun can drastically change the role of a tank when you mount a cannon meant for fighting mbts to one for taking out Titans or acting as an enormous spg. The Baneblade variants are given different names either from artist standpoint or naming convention. In practical terms you'd call a Baal Predator a Baal and the LR Executioner as an Executioner simply to make it easier for identification purposes and further down simpler monikers .

So he's right to a fair point. However, while you're correct, it would be improper and annoying to say you're bringing a baneblade and you bring a Plague Reaper or Shadow Sword.

Ah, fair dues. You see, I personally find GW's naming conventions for the variants annoying, since they're an random mishmash of the words Storm, Bane, Hammer, Blade and Lord.

It's good that you didn't read the Raukaan supp.

that book is a war crime against my chapter
