=][= SoB Conversions

Recommended Posts

I'm doing an Inq28 war band, and my idea for a Hereticus Inquisitor is that she was once a Sister and has pulled in a few old friends to join her.

First up is the Inquisitor in her TDA, styled to resemble her old SoB gear. Or, it will be as more work is done to it.

The original conversion that I started a while back and never finished:

Cutting down to make it less bulky and hopefully starting to add some curves to it:

More progress, and a first try at a helmet that I think turned out ok, but will probably tear off the GS and try again:

Early stages of a regular sister, made using Xenos parts(GASP!)

That is a great way to Sister up a DE head, very clever! There's going to be a lot of GS work to be done but you're off to a good start smile.png

Oh yeah, I knew when the idea first popped into my head that it was going to be a lot of work. I think it'll great if I can pull it off, though.

Love it, wish my GS skills were as good

Thanks, and practice, practice, practice! You can get there.

I like the idea and where you are going with it but I must admit the plastic sister head may be a much easier option.

I am curious however as to your intention on decorating the TDA.

For the plastic head, do you mean for the TDA? If so, I think it would be way too small. I plan on decorating the TDA not unlike a SoB.

Interesting TDA. The hair on the SoB is well done; she needs more robes!

There will be, not to worry. :)

The plastic heads that come with the Immolator kit are actually really large, far out of proportion with the bodies they come attached to. ^^;

Applying the bare headed Sisters head from the Immolator sprue required me to cut back the cowl area on the Black Reach Terminator Sergeant significantly before it could even think about fitting.

>> if you weren't in Texas, I'd send you a spare one, but the shipping would be too expensive, heh.

Very nice start :) If you're building sisters from DE parts from scratch then I hope you don't mind if I refer you to my WIP: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283903-building-a-multi-part-sisters-of-battle-kit/

I'm doing pretty much the exact same thing so it might give you a few ideas. Good luck with the project! It's a lot of work :p

A lot of work yes, but we know you can do it thumbsup.gif I'll be watching this closely tongue.png

I appreciate the vote of confidence. :)

Oh really? Hmmmm. If the heads were that oversized that just might work. I checked eBay and couldn't find any up for sale. I could paypal you the shipping, if it's not outrageous.

I knew I couldn't be the first person to think of using Dark Eldar parts for this! It is going to be a lot of work, and I commend you on all the work you've put into your army.

I only plan on having a few Sisters in my retinue so I can take solace in that the fact that I won't be doing a whole army requiring this much work per figure. I'm planning on adding a Seraphim, maybe with wings instead of a jump pack, and a former Mistress of Repentance with at least one neural whip(not sure about the armament for the other hand yet).

Why the heck would a Seraphim have actual wings?

They're humans. Genetically pure humans. If they were Skitarii, I'd accept wings, but giving actual, feathery wings to Sororitas seraphim does not and never will sit well with me.

Besides, the Seraphim jump pack already looks like stylised wings and is one of the prettiest bits in the citadel range.

Shipping the head. I'll see if I can find one, it looks to come out at about $12 for the postage (and yes, I really am that broke that I can't afford ££7.15)

They're not real wings, and won't even be painted as real feathers. She's not a mutant. Besides, it's not as though there's never been any precedent for a sister with plumage.

Don't worry about the head, $12 is a lot more than it's worth for the conversion.

That's an artist's conception in universe, the character that is a picture of doesn't have wings either, except for the hundreds of people who for some reason have decided to convert her to have them because of that picture. sigh.

Edit: Well, the original Kopinski version of that picture, which is rather better done than that, albeit somewhat sketchier.

I use wings on my stand in daemon seraphim which I summon with my inquisitor, they may not be accurate lore wise but as the rule of cool you can't go far wrong.

You may be right on the head size as well, just makes me wonder should she of been sized down as a terminator?

Compared to regular issue that is.

Maybe I'm too used to this head being on a dark eldar, or I'm just not used to a sneering sister, but her face catches me off guard every time I see it.

That said, brilliant stuff.

N.B. I can hear those hating the alliance with the Ordo Hereticus groaning in dismay over the Inquisition symbol. tongue.png

Brilliant stuff, great conversion work, looking forward to the painting, following.

Thanks, but don't hold your breath on the painting part. It might be a while.

I wouldn't call it a sneer so much myself, but a friend nicknamed her Sister Sneer and it kinda stuck. When I saw that particular DE head, I imagined it something like the expression on this sister:

As for the =][= symbol, and please note a similar one in the art, she is in an Inquisitor's retinue.

If you wanted to fix the sneer you could always model up a gas mask.

The Seraphim will have a gasmask/rebreather, but I don't think the sneer needs fixing. :)

Fair enough. I'm looking forward to see how this develops.

Edit: Looking back I seem to be suggesting the sneer should be or needs to be fixed, I merely meant to suggest that if  the designer didn't want the sneer it could be resolved. I actually have no problem with it... Sorry if I caused any upset/trouble.
