Nova_chron
So I just took the plunge and ordered Khârn and a squad of rampagers to get my feet wet into the heresy. Now I should hope it is plain to see I will be playing World Eaters, my question to you is what should my core of troops be? Despoiler squads or tacticals with the extra CCW? Bodacious2182
I run all of my troops squad with bolters and CCW out of drop pods. I faced facts a long time ago and realized this is a shooting game. Despoiler squad might be fluffy but aren't going to be as effective as marines with bolters. Especially out of pods, they can cause a bit more damage than marines with just bolt pistols. Another thing, with bolters, they are a lot more fun to model. Some wiht bolt pistol and bolter, some with chain axe and bolter, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293018-what-do-you-feel-is-needed-for-a-good-xii-legion/#findComment-3730591 Share on other sites
Relict
Short answer: chainaxes. Long answer: the makeup of your troop formations should be dependent on your playing style. If you want a lightning-quick strike force that can deploy via drop pods and/or gun ships, then you would want a mix of despoiler and/or assault squads. If most of your troops will be footsloggers, then a mix of tactical and/or despoiler squads would be more appropriate. Personally, I run mine (3000-point force) with two full 20-man tactical squads (all equipped with additional CCWs) and one 15-man assault squad (10 of which have melta bombs). Nova_chron
Is it written to allow you to pick how many melta bombs the squad takes cause the wording is odd Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293018-what-do-you-feel-is-needed-for-a-good-xii-legion/#findComment-3730632 Share on other sites
Nova_chron
As far as the taking bolters that is how I felt but wanted the opinion of someone who has some games under their belt Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293018-what-do-you-feel-is-needed-for-a-good-xii-legion/#findComment-3730634 Share on other sites
Relict
Is it written to allow you to pick how many melta bombs the squad takes cause the wording is odd If I read the rules of Betrayal correctly, yes. "The entire (assault) squad may take melta bombs - +5 points each" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293018-what-do-you-feel-is-needed-for-a-good-xii-legion/#findComment-3730911 Share on other sites
Massaen
So the Entire squad must take them, not some but all. It's saying for 5 points per model in the unit, the entire unit may have them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293018-what-do-you-feel-is-needed-for-a-good-xii-legion/#findComment-3730933 Share on other sites

Larkyn
Yeah, seems pretty clear to me. en·tire [en-tahyuhhttp://static.sfdict.com/dictstatic/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.pnghttp://static.sfdict.com/dictstatic/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.pngr] Show IPA adjective 1. having all the parts or elements; whole; complete: He wrote the entire novel in only six weeks. 2. full or thorough: He has been given entire freedom of choice in this matter. 3. not broken, mutilated, or decayed; intact: We were fortunate to find this relic entire. 4. unimpaired or undiminished: His entire energies have gone into making the enterprise a success. 5. being wholly of one piece; undivided; continuous: The entire mood of the symphony was joyful. Ugh, internet issues. On topic, Breachers I think are very XII. It's too bad they can't get close combat weapons, but I can imagine a squad of them with spikes attached to the shields, bashing anything that gets in their way.
