Horus Heresy Timeline

About to head to bed, so not a lot of time to read it. Do have one question, what's the best way to zoom? Tried just hitting the magnifying glass, and I can only barely read the thing.

Try zooming with the "view image" tool to get it slightly bigger. Then, right click the image and select "View in new tab". This should open the image in full size.

A useful reference but my head would explode if I tried to digest it en masse. I know that at events the BL/FW guys have said they have a massive wall chart. Laurie Goulding and Alan Bligh have said that if there is an apparent contradiction, "It's the Warp."

Basically, due to the vagaries of Warp travel and also the non-universal nature of time across the galaxy all that really matters is an individual's subjective experience of time, e.g. From Aurellian we know that for Magnus the Burning of Prospero occurred before the Dropsite Massacre but that doesn't mean it's a clear cut sequence for everyone.

Lot's of stuff updated. Would really appreciate comments.

Fantastic!  I know what I'm spending my lunch break doing.

Actually, would it be possible to get a version without the locations/forces involved and movement arrows?  I like to provide your timeline to friends and family I've introduced to the heresy series as a way of helping them keep track of when things are happening in reference to each other as well as which stories they can read next if a certain plot line catches their fancy.  I don't know your process for making the timeline so I don't know if that would involve a simple matter of removing a few layers in photoshop, or an arduous process of removing them manually.  If it's a pain, don't worry about it.

Unfortunately this has been created with MS Visio, so it would be quite an effort to do this.

That's okay.  I ended up doing it myself through the wonders of MS Paint.  It took awhile and to call it ugly would be an insult to ugly things, but it's something I can hand off to friends and family for their own reading needs.

Added a lot of new stuff, including events that occured immediately after HH and primarch discovery etc. stuff. Did I miss something?

Also, been thinking about converting the timeline into a web app for more clarity. I am a programmer by profession after all - now if I only found the time needed msn-wink.gif

First of all, thanks for taking the time to put that chart together. I too have been wondering how best to read the series.

I feel like I am missing something because no one else has said anything about it, but the images of the charts are so small and low resolution that I can't actually read them. Is there a higher resolution file available?

Thanks!

I've been using photobucket for hosting the image and they have unfortunately changed the maximum resolution they support, effectively "resizing" my chart. I do have the original, updated with latest releases, but I'm not aware of any good image hosting service that would support the big picture for free. If you know one, I'm all ears.

Thanks for trying to upload a larger version, however it is still too small to read the majority of text. By using Firefox's Page Info window I was able to render the image at 1,585px × 1,200px which was initially scaled to 686px × 519px when you click the thumbnail in your post.

What application have you used to create this chart? If it has the option to save as a PDF you definitely should use that. It will drastically reduce the file size. If you can only save it as an image, may I suggest zipping it and saving to Dropbox (or any other free file hosting service)?

Google Docs is really easy to save and look from I've found so if it can be converted to PDF, that's also another way to go.
