Eisenhorn31388
I can't seem to find an answer to this question: If a unit disembarks from a stormraven using Skies of Blood or Fury depending on Codex, it is said to use deep strike rules for placing the models. If the stormraven is equipped with a teleport homer and has been on the table for one turn, the unit would not scatter if places within 6" of the raven base, correct? Dam13n
Correct. So long as it's a version that can take a Locator Beacon rather than a Teleport Homer. A Teleport Homer only works on models Teleporting (like Terminators) while a Locator Beacon works on anything friendly that's Deep Striking. Eisenhorn31388
Another question, does the raven being an assault vehicle override the "no assault out of deep strike"? Dam13n
No. Skies of Fury specifically states that a unit cannot charge after deploying in this way. Gentlemanloser
Also note, that due to Death from the Skies, every Raven can take a Locator Beacon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293245-stormraven-disembarking/#findComment-3735336 Share on other sites
Quixus
Does Death from the Skies override the codices? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293245-stormraven-disembarking/#findComment-3735462 Share on other sites
Brother Casman
Presumably, DftS will override the older codices, GK and BA in this case. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293245-stormraven-disembarking/#findComment-3735491 Share on other sites
Sabadin
Does Death from the Skies override the codices? They added those changes into the older dexes with an errata in the FAQ's. Quixus
Hmm. Neither the Blood Angels' nor the Grey Knights' errata change the cost for extra Armor from 15 pts to the cost in DftS (5 pts.) Gentlemanloser
DftS contians the latest published rules for the Bangel and GK Stormraven. And as such need to be used. Of course, you can do whatever you want and totally ignore DftS. But you can also write your own unit entries as well. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293245-stormraven-disembarking/#findComment-3735723 Share on other sites
Morollan
DftS contians the latest published rules for the Bangel and GK Stormraven. And as such need to be used. Just out of interest, where does it say that you need to use the latest published version of the rules? Gentlemanloser
Apart from GW's last Throne of Skulls pack (or way of the warrior? Can't remember. It was typed in it that the latest version of rules must be used), it's the same unwritten general rule that stops folk using Codex: Assassins. Morollan
As I don't own, and never will own, DftS and I have a current, valid BA Codex with the most recent FAQ I think I'll stick with that version of the Stormraven. Anyone who doesn't want to play against that version is welcome to buy me a copy of DftS if they wish. CoffeeGrunt
First time I've heard DftS mentioned since its release. I don't think even the most nitpicky of tournament goers will force you to use it, anyway. Gentlemanloser
Apart from GW. ;) I'm sure other TO's will have thier own ruling. But if you're playing by general standards of most recent rules (like FW units presented in multiple books...), then you should be using DftS. Eddie Orlock
I recall, though I'd be challenged to prove it, the designers notes that accompanied Codecies WitchHunters and DemonHunters made specific mention that the entries in those books specifically superseded the entries presented on Codex: Assassins. Of course, this begs the follow up of whither designers notes are admissible in rules discussions. Gentlemanloser
Can folk still use the older Codex: IG now that Codex: AM is out? Different names as well. ;) Or has the older Codex: IG been updated by the newer Codex: AM and is no longer useable?
