Cheap Primarchs from Zealot Miniatures

and unfortunately, FW seems to be aware of the weapon choices they gave their designs at Kabuki, because the FW books dont give all the primarchs weapons that match up with the kabuki models. (dorn is shown with a power fist and power sword, but comes with a nasty chainsword and a salvo bolter

Knights of Legend from Kabuki miniatures???

Surely people can see these are modeled on the primarchs right??? Or am I missing something? were these Kabuki blokes around before Games Workshop?

What do you mean mate? with the exception of Dorn, the weapons all look pretty much the same??? (For the released FW models anyway)

Yeah they are kabuki miniatures alright, Knights of Legend this link has all 16 of the "not" Primarchs that they have made.

And of course they are modeled after the Primarchs from Visions of Heresy, they were produced before forgeworld started making miniatures (or Primarchs) for the heresy. But they are pretty clearly violating GW intellectual property, especially now that forgeworld is making the official Primarchs.

that's why i said 'not all of them'.  though the others arent quite accurate either.

as stated before, Kabuki Dorn is shown with Power Fist and Power Sword.  but comes with a special Chainsword and bolter.

Kabuki Ferrus is shown with a hammer in one hand, and a gorgon head in the other.  nothing on his back to represent the Medusan Carapace; his custom primarch armor with all the servo arms that give him a plasma weapon, a flamer weapon, a grav weapon, and a grenade harness.

as you go through the list, you see differences that show the Kabuki Primarchs wont be WYSIWYG to the legion rules.

Word of warning, they are the wrong scale for Primarchs. I bought the Russ, Lorgar and Fulgrim models and they are not even big enough to pass as normal marines. I was fooled by the references to the 40mm base.

I will try to post comparison shots over the weekend. I don't have FW primarchs but I don't need them. Put them next to regulr astartes and you'll see how small they are. Celtic Knight (Russ)'s wolves would barely provide a mouthful to a regular fenrisian wolf.

Word of note about Kabuki, they do not follow through when working with artists. A member of the Warhammer facebook group posted about Kabuki failing to reimburse him for his sculpt of their new (count as) sanguinus model. Apparently there are several people that have had the same problem.

Can't say i find any of them particularly appealing. Ultimately the appeal of the miniature plays more of a role in my purchases than the price.

And the above, along with the IP infringement, doesn't exactly make me keen either.

Kabuki has been around for a while and started producing not-primarchs years before FW did, as Athrawes has stated earlier. That was basically their only appeal - they were commercially available primarch representations when no official models existed.
