GrandMagnus
Hi all, Im always working on ideas for a DIY chapter (still havent found anything I like ) and I have some marines I would like to repaint. Anyways, I need your thoughts on these 3 colour schemes: My only problem with this one is that the black helmet reminds me bit too much of yellow fleshtearers. Withoutt doubt this one is an idea I really like, but it feels like something is... missing? An old scheme Ive had for over a year now, Im not really sure about the "bronze" trim on the pauldrons but I dont really know what to do. So, any ideas and critics go ahead. Tiberius Cato
I think the second scheme could benefit from bronze trimmings. For me, bronze doesn't look as good with yellow as it does black. Aqui
I really like one and three equally However, if "rule of cool" is a factor, then I'd say the third one. You don't see many yellow and black schemes, and I've never seen a yellow and black halved scheme! GrandMagnus
Aquilanus, I like it too because Ive never seen a chapter in those colours :D, but I just need a a 3rd colour for the trims and aquila, something that looks good equally on yellow and black. Ive tried a gun metal and it kind of work but also kind of doesnt work (im not making myself very clear, now am I? ) ArcticPaladin, something like this? It might actually work, although Im liking both ideas. Olis
Hmm. I kinda like number one (don't underestimate the power of imitating colour schemes) and three. Number two I honestly don't care for (which might admittedly be a little bit of a harsh statement). Tiberius Cato
Yep, exactly what I was thinking Brother Anaziel. If that is one of the schemes you'll be choosing from, then my vote is for that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736183 Share on other sites
Aqui
I'm not so keen on the trims on the last example, but I'm not the one who ultimately has to paint it. Admittedly, it could just be the way the screen shows the colour and if a painted example was shown I might change my mind Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736188 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Now that Im thinking about the bronze trim I think it could look good on MK II / III pauldrons, armour types with rivets and such, but Im not sure how it would look on flat trims. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736228 Share on other sites
Tiberius Cato
If you go for the halving you could simply replace the bronze with the colours from the opposite side. Sometimes simple things like that can go a long way, plus when you apply the scheme to vehicls you don't have to worry about fitting in all your extra colours. Ace Debonair
Scheme three gets my vote. After a bit of playing with the painter, the best colour I could find to accompany both Black and Yellow was Bone trim, thus: That's entirely a personal preference though, so if it doesn't work for you then maybe it's worth going with something else. Aqui
I quite like that one Ace Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736235 Share on other sites
Lysimachus
I actually really like the first and second, maybe the first a touch more as I reckon the light blue eyes will pop more set in the black helm? Â I do like the bronze trim, but I'd probably do it quite heavily verdigrised(sp?) both to define it from the yellow and tie in with the eyes. Tiberius Cato
Great work Ace, I really enjoy those colours. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736248 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Hey Ace, that actually looks good brother. I will keep that idea in mind, you can count on it. Strike Captain, I have tried bright blue eyes on black helmets before as part of some colour testing, they pop a LOT, much more that red usually does. Also, I thought that everybody uses red, so why no try something different. Arctic, your idea: Im kind of liking it, I think it might work. Also, a new idea popped into my head after I saw a marine from the Fire Hawks chapter. Try this helmet? Olis
It's certainly different. I sorta like it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736255 Share on other sites
Son of Carnelian
I actually like the very first one. Yellow Flesh Tearers still looks unique and cool! Ultramarine vet
I think an awesome idea for the 2nd color scheme would be to paint his legs, from the knee down, black. I just think that would be pretty cool, just an idea for you! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736264 Share on other sites
GrandMagnus
Ultramarine vet. You mean like this? Im not a huge fan of power armour with a different colour from the knee down, although it does look good. Ultramarine vet
Yes! Its alright if you aren't a fan of it. Just thought I would throw it out there! I'll keep thinking of other ideas. The helmet idea that you got from the Fire Hawks chapter looks great though. I really like it. Cartoon Head
My advice would be to paint up a marine with the "Fire hawks" scheme, I think its great and once you see it on a model I think it'll remove any doubts you might be having. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293307-need-thoughts-on-a-colour-scheme/#findComment-3736284 Share on other sites
