Kilofix
1. Does anyone build any lists with Wolf Guards with TDA and / or Storm Shields tanking for MEQs? How does that work out? Is it too expensive for what it gives? How about Wolf Guards with Storm Shields tanking for Wolf Guard TDA squads? 2. Does anyone load up Drop Pods with TDAs? Are there situations where loading up Drop Pods with TDAs would be preferable to loading them up with MEQs? Thanks for the opinions! Bulweih
Hyá Brother, so from the top... 1.-Yes I tend to do that, but the answer to the 2nd question under this point is also yes. In even a half competitive area it's too expensive, both options. If your opponent is skilled and you don't play above the 3k mark it's not too good an option either way. When I say I do it, I'm talking about my upcoming apoc match where I field 13k of wolves. In this environment I'm able to spend that much on one wound models for the fluff and fun of it, without the drawback of not having enough points left for a decent army besides. Ragnars bodyguard are all toting stormshields in PA and mostly just massacre their way up the table, always great fun for me, yet not outside of apoc. 2. Did that a few times, can work wonders depending on terrain, scatter and opponent (what ever doesn't?) yet is fragile to heavy fire obviously. Inside a good plan as said, but as a stand alone move not a solid option. In PA the Wolfguard can bring more fire, bodies etc. So far for now, hope it helps some. Rune Priest Jbickb
In lists I usually take 1 pod with tda and combimeltas they land, melt a tank and often live long enough to make it to combat. Comes in at 225 points. I only do the one though usually. As for wound tanking guys I usually don't as I run pod heavy lists and I like the free weapon for the 10th guy more than the combi brought by the tda/storm shield guy.
