Captain Semper
So what's the verdict on Krom Dragongaze? Great pose but I'd rather he had a proper beard... Easily fixed though - it comes separately... Rift Blade
Agree with you on the beard Capt.. I'm really glad I arranged a swap for my orks for the SW's. The Krom model has a lot of potential for converting. I'll to think about what I'm really going to do with my second Krom but looking forward to it. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
Are you kidding??!! His head sculpt is AWESOME!! Send me yours... I am going to use the torso of my 2nd Krom model as the basis for a Thunderlord. Add a pointy hand and a storm shield and voila!! Thunderlodieness!! skeletoro
The white dwarf mentions that the formation gives a special rules: once one unit has shot or charged an enemy, successive units that shoot/charge the same target reroll failed attempts. Not sure if it's successive units that same turn, or for the rest of the game. Also not sure what exactly is being rerolled. To hit? To wound? Charge distance? Lastly, not sure about the formation composition - it's the one that includes all the storm claw models, but as to whether you can increase the pack sizes to 10 or add extra packs... we'll see. Vash113
Argh I'm definitely going to have to get it for the mini-rulebook and I'll find some way to use the models, fortunately my bro also has an Ork army so that's alright I guess, would have preferred to spend that cash on some new mega-nobz or something. skeletoro
Did anyone get the paper or itunes white dwarf yet? I got the epub/mobi version and cannot seem to find any way to blow up the thumbnails. So I am stuck with even smaller thumbnails than in the leaked photos.. not much use. I am still wondering whether the thumbnails might be readable in dead tree format, or whether perhaps they can be zoomed in on in the apple version? BrotherJim
Krom is a :cussing badass! The only aspect that bothers me is the legs. They just look like cheap converted mk6 from the old plactics, nice trim and detail mind you, not saying i could do better, just saying The Wolf Lord needs to be the tallest in the army. With Kroms legs the way they are he will always look short and stocky (which is inherently "old school") I'll need at least 5 of him :/ :/ :/ Other than that I only want the minidex. But the box is such exceptional good value. Holy just happened has there been a price drop? the space wolves pack is now only $44.75 (Australian dollars) the termies are $60!!! i've missed something obviously back to the news room then ill be back! Cpt. Lacerus
I bought a lot of Wolves as my first army a few years back now. I even chose the Dragongaze Great Company for my army but I never got past build one pack of Grey Hunters :/. I'm taking this as a sign that I need to buy this pack and get the rest of my army built and I'm quite excited about it. That Krom model is fantastic except I'll probably swap the head out and I think he'll look like a stunning leader. Is he suppose to have special rules with this as well? BrotherJim
After staring longing for hours at the prety pictures I think I have decided I will buy the box and paint them all up and use it for intro games for my friends. Remember saying something similar about Dark Vengance, (only got half way through) but seeings as its Space Wolves this time around Im feeling much more confident. Also I retract any negative statements about Krom, he is a beast, hes just needs a bigger base ;) cpt lacerus: Goodluck on your Quest! Dantay VI
I live in Montrose, and I am away with work, so I have no hope of actually getting my hands on this which makes me a very sad puppy. If there is anyone in the Dundee or Aberdeen area, who wants to split a set (I would like wolves or even just Krom!) Please get in touch!! skeletoro
You should ask ork players IMO! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293384-space-wolves-ork-starter-box/page/7/#findComment-3743133 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Haha, yes I know. I am trying to find out if a friend wants to go in on the boxed set, but he is out of contact. I am still wondering whether the thumbnails might be readable in dead tree format, or whether perhaps they can be zoomed in on in the apple version? I made the mistake of buying the digital iBooks version and I have to say I'm very disappointed. It doesn't even have thumbnail of the rules/stats like the paper copy. It is damn annoying that they don't supply the same product in both versions. Hellrender
The ebook version is cheaper. In general i have found tho, that the White Dwarf is fine as digital format. However, i prefer the paper version of anything codex or rulebook related. Baulder
It is cheaper but also cost less for them to produce so I'd argue the the profit margin is still the same. Regardless of that I'm not sure that it is cheaper is valid reason for omitting content. On the whole my personal experiences of the digital versions of release have been good. The interactive rulebook is well worth it imo. As are the smaller things like carnage and kill team rules. This was just my first WD digital copy and as I said it is disappointing that key info is missing. Khine
I managed to have a look at the rules for krom in the white dwarf. Squinted my eyes and noticed two things.A. He has THREE woundsB. It looked like he was around 185 Points.=] Guess we are getting some new point price tags on our hqs. dienekes96
How do we know the head is separate? Is there a picture of the sprue or a list of the components. I want a Krom, but I also want some of his parts for bitz for other models. There is no sprue pic at GW. Or am I looking in the wrong place? This was just my first WD digital copy and as I said it is disappointing that key info is missing. Fail. I must have been blind and woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. There is in fact a tiny image in the iBook version of the rules from Stormclaw. I had expected something along the lines of the scions details, I was wrong. From a very blurred zoom of the image it looks like Krom's axe is either +1 or +2 str (as we'd expect) with ap1 and 3 SR types (doesn't look like unweildy is one of them). The second looks to be master-crafted.
