1.5k Word Bearers

So I'm over half way with this list now, all I need to get is 20 more men and the Castellax. The plan is to advance on the enemy and swamp them with my troops and summoned daemons and then using the Gal Vorbak as deep striking cavalry. I think the Castellax is a pretty solid unit that could take some punishment whilst dealing it out.

I can tell you that the Sicaran is a beast but I would consider trying to squeeze in some apothecaries into those tac squads, at 1.5k I am running a Sicaran, Mortis Contemptor Kheres variant and a quad mortar rapier. In the only HH game I played I was putting out a scary amount of shots, if my opponent did not have those apothecaries I would have tabled him, however those censored.gif apothecaries saved is bacon each round turning up to 10 failed armor saves into minimal casualties, forcing me to either go all out on 1 squad or spread the love among them all (which I did and led to my downfall)

Yeah it looks good, I'm not sure on having one though anymore, I play dark eldar a lot and I'll end up being accused of power gaming lol so thinking of going a different way now and it keeps to the theme of an infantry assault with no tracked vehicles to.

Really good list WoT!

Are the 3 HQs joining super friends style to the Gal vorbak?

This list will need to hit hard and fast because while you do have some of the better units, you have a low model count. However I expect your Castellax and contemptor will try to distract and soak up some of the shots that should be pointed at your Deathstar squad.

I was hoping to start a WBs list eventually so I will look to yours as a reference :) mine, however, will include more assault infantry like assault squads and terminators to make use of the better morale and rerolls of 1s for sweeping (at least for the power armored guys).

That seems like a decent list, the only thing I'd be worried about is if you go up against a gunline army (or iron hands vehicle list which is hell to play against without graviton weapons), because you're having to footslog your way into range with your regular troops, though at least the apothecaries should keep you alive and if burning lore gives you endurance you should be set.

I was thinking of having one leading each unit of word bearers and then having the gal vorbak deep strike in using the nuncio vox.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to free up some points for my 1k list? I feel like it's to small and fragile, so I'm thinking of trying to maximise it's efficiency. I'm thinking maybe the contemptor is to much?

Honestly, speaking from experience ( I played a 1250 pt game against Depthcharge12 a few weeks back against his Contemptor), It's pretty hard to counter armor value 13 in a legion list at those kinds of point values so it's kind of unnecessary. I'd say drop it and maybe take a pair of javeline Attack Speeders for 150.

The javelins hit hard with their cyclone missiles (or upgrade to twinlinked lascannons) and are great for distant objective grabbing.

What do you guys think of this list? I'm planning on getting some stuff from fw soon, such as the contemptor and I'm thinking of adding the apothecaries and the land raider doors to convert a normal plastic land raider.

Unless you're keeping the 2 tac squads as 10 mans for added flexibility,I'd say fuse them into a 20 man and use the ~40pts freed up by doing so and invest in some upgrades. As for what those upgrades would be... Well Id grab a vexilla either way, maybe drop the vox since you dont really have any deepstrikers or artillery to draw LoS for, melta bombs - since they might come in handy, ArtA not too sure about and either a Pfist or Pweapon for the sarge just in case

I still need the minimum 2 troop choices. The vox is to deep strike the Gal Vorbak in as the terminators will be riding in the land raider.

I'm hoping with two psykers and one being a daemon I can summon daemons to screen my men, perhaps starting with seekers cause they could, if I start 12" on, move 6 forward and summon 10 of them 12" in front of me, they could either charge immediately or run with an additional 6" and prepare for next turn charge.

HAHAH derp I'm sorry I had a brain fart right there and forgot the min troops!

Also, in terms of summoning Daemons to screen your boys, I can see it working. Most 30k armies probably won't have any Psyker support of any kind so besides the standard D6 Warp Charge to Deny, I think it should be a breeze for you. Unless you play against 30k/40k Eldar...then to quote a popular TV show "You're Gunna Hvae a Bad time!"

However, I would caution you about how you've planned the use of the Daemons as meat shields since their invul is only a 5+ and you might run into the occasional list that has a ton of Templates or other gimmick that could neutralize their use rather rapidly. (see Battle8rothers Imperial Fists List or any chem-munitions heavy DG list)

And while you do have Fearless Bubbles always have a contingency in the event that they have a lot of precision shooting/sniping and them being able to quite handily remove your Chaplain from the field. So try and take a Vexilla if you can - don't leave it to chance since it might bite you in the butt pretty hard tongue.png

Also, how will you be using your Terminators? While I LOOOOOVEE Cataphractii and they do have a 4+ instead of 5+, they have Slow and Purposeful meaning they can't make any run moves or overwatch with them, though you can Charge the turn you shoot the Reaper. Although the Land Raider that you've got them should alleviate any problems, this is mostly a food for thought comment.
