For the IF there's Seventh Retribution and Malordrax. I enjoyed the first one, though more for the imaginative bad guys than the IF. Haven't read Malodrax.

There's a CF novella by Mike Lee called Traitor's Gorge, and a bunch of short stories by various authors kicking about. I'm not familar with any of them.

The short story 'One Hate' by AD-B in the Fear the Alien compilation was a really good Crimson Fists story, great description of where the chapter is in the "present" 40K universe, and what their priorities are after the Battle of Rynn's World.

I can also recommend both Crimson Fist and One Hate. They are good reads about sons of Dorn. Furthermore if you don't mind branching out a bit, I would add Helsreach and Blood and Fire to the to-do list. However, they are about Black Templars. Still sons of Dorn though. smile.png

This. I would HIGHLY reccomend this book, even if it is a short story. I think it does really well in hitting home the priorities of a chapter that was on the verge of extinction, in a very smart and human way.

Without giving away specifics or spoilers, a handful of Crimson Fists return to a world they previously fought on, in order to harvest the long dead's geneseed, with the hope that there may have been survivors buried in the ruble. This story is one that sticks with you, not a lot of flash or dazzle, but after a few hours you start to think about why the story chose to go in that direction, and then you realise how well the chapter's desperate motivations are represented.

There is an apothecary and a chaplain in the story - both senior positions in any chapter, filled by what are essentially children of the Legion, battle brothers with little to no combat experience, who need to step up and be the roles the chapter needs them to be, but who know the crushing weight of hopelessness and the genetic futility of rebuilding, while still committing all resources to war. It gets across the importance of the initiates, how they truly are the most important part and future of the chapter.

I'll leave you with my favorite line from the story:

"And why am i charged with this responsibility? Why do I wear the black? Beacuase I hate. I hate more than my brothers, and my hate runs blacker, deeper purer than theirs." - Brother-Chaplain Argo, Crimson Fists

One Hate is an fething great read. I should go back and read it again. Just an awesome story and it has some of my favorite Adeptus Astartes interaction ever. Not Legions, Adeptus. These are a far cry from the legions of old and you feel that in the way that the Crimson Fists talk to the human of the story.
