I need help making lists

Right, I think I've got a collection of Sisters, good for 500-1500 point games.

4 multimelters, 8 meltaguns, 21 Battle Sisters, 4 heavy bolters, 5 heavy flamers, St Celestine, Canoness w/bolt pistol & power sword, 4 Simulacrum Imperialis, Battlestandard, Hospitaller, Dialogous, 4 Immolators/Rhinos, Exorcist, 4 flamers, 2 stormbolters, 2 Superiors w/ powermaul, Superior w/ chainsword & bolt pistol, 2 Superiors w/ power sword & bolter, 7 Seraphim, 2 Seraphim w/ handflamer, Seraphim Superior w/ plaspistol & powersword, Seraphim Superior w/ chainsword & plaspistol

It's just when I start making lists which use what I have, I start to come unstuck. In my area there's an upcoming 750 point tournament in which I'm contimplating using the list below:

+ 750pt Codex: Adepta Sororitas+
+ HQ +
* Canoness w/ Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon(sword), Rosarius

+ Troops +
* Battle Sister Squad x2
9x Battle Sister, Meltagun, Meltagun, Simulacrum Imperialis
* Rhino w/Laud Hailer & the stock loadout
* Sister Superior w/ Bolter, Power Weapon (sword, maul)

+ Heavy Support +
* Exorcist (Searchlight, Smoke Launchers)
* Retributor Squad
4x Multi-Melta
* Retributor Superior w/ Bolt Pistol, Chainsword

However, I asked for some feedback from players at a local club and was advised to drop the Retributors and to field as many Rhinos possible, basically make a tank park with minimum squads which ends looking like

+++ 750pt Codex: Adepta Sororitas Roster (Primary Detachment)) +++
+ HQ +

* Canoness w/ Bolt Pistol, Melta Bombs, Power Weapon

+ Troops +

* Battle Sister Squad x2

4x Battle Sister, Meltagun, Meltagun

* Rhino w/ Laud Hailer
* Sister Superior w/ Bolter, Power Weapon

* Battle Sister Squad

4x Battle Sister, Meltagun, Meltagun

* Rhino

* Sister Superior w/ Bolter, Power Weapon

* Battle Sister Squad

4x Battle Sister

* Rhino

* Sister Superior w/  Bolter, Power Weapon

+ Heavy Support +

* Exorcist

I look on that list, an feel that something about it doesn't seem right. I'm tempted to drop a rhino squad bringing in a small handflamer/plas Seraphim squad instead, or drop more and add an Avenger Strike Fighter.

For the first list, I really wouldn't recommend taking the multi-melta Retributors.  You should have more success using heavy bolters to mesh with the Exorcist in support fire roles.  Alternatively, drop the Heavy supports entirely to take melta-doms in an immolator for assured killing power, and swap some of the battle sisters to flamers for anti-infantry.

In the Second list I would drop a Rhino Squad and the Canoness to take Celestine and have 65 points left over to bulk out and buff up the Battle sister squads.  You can deep strike her in fairly safely and she can really serve well as distraction and disruption.  It will buy you time until your actual Sister squads arrive.  Maybe consider putting them in Immolators with flamers or swapping the flamers to the girls inside and taking a twin-linked multi-melta.

Also, if you have them, dozer blades are worth their points in gold.

Most of all though, play the list YOU want to play; you won't have as much fun otherwise.

Immolators are better than Rhinos every time, unless you really are trying to get those four extra squaddies across the battlefield. Even then, they're only moving 6" more than they can on foot.

Especially since our Rhinos are 5 points more expensive than Astartes ones, they're just not cost effective.

It is my opinion as an experienced Sisters player that anyone telling you to make a parking lot full of Rhinos is trying to score an easy win over you. Your Rhinos cost 20 points less than an Immolator or a second whole squad, and have all the killing power of a single battle sister.

The power of a Sisters army is in overwhelming short-range firepower. You want to take as many bolters, meltas and flamers as you can and ram them as far down the enemy's throat as quickly as you can, as hard as you can. Rhinos hold you back from that by costing too many points for too little firepower.

First off, Welcome Rod.H! At this forum you will find all sorts of great help in list building and tactics. So enjoy.

AH, I have to say AMEN Miko. I'm sorry to report that I haven't tried my sisters since the new edition but, WOW, you are my Sisters Dialogus. I will get my list together and field them asap. I wil report back on my progress.

Thanks all. Most of the time when I'm in the process of contemplating turning up to a game, I'm mucking 'bout in Battlescribe making lists with what I have available/ready and I end up loosing interest or find out there's another game I'm interested in occurring and break out the T-34 horde or Ion Y-wings.

And I'm starting to see why I prefer contemplating and playing 1000 point games, I find it easier to get what I want at that level. Then again as I said before that'd be all my Sisters.

I'm beginning to see a use for HB Retributors, camp them on a deployment zone objective and be the bodyguard for a nearby Exorcist. For I played one game where my Exorcist did little and died badly, then again there was debate on how to treat it's shooting: move it and snap shot only, move it and be unable to shoot or treat it like a variable shot stormbolter.

As to the 750 tournament, if I turn up to it with Sisters I'll probably be either the only one or one of a hand full. I'll be outnumberd by Orks and the expected Eldar, Dark Eldar & Tau.
