Garro: Shield of Lies (James Swallow)

The Imperial Truth, is not the Truth after all. Heresy I know.

See this is one of my biggest bugbears. Did noone seriously question why the truth needed to be codified as the Imperial Truth? Should it not just be the Truth?

Od is it one of these marketing things? Like in the grim darkness of the far future there is only Apple and the iTruth? Like they've progressed from monopolising brainless teenagers into monopolosing war profits and create an iEmpire under an iEmperor, with iLegions?

What are you going on about, the Horus Heresy is CLEARLY Atari vs Commodore.

Silly Black Templars, that oath had a lot of Capitalised Hims, His, and He's for a people that don't worship him as a god ;)

Besides, isn't the Emperor not being worshiped relatively new? Before the HH novels, I thought he was all about being worshipped?

(On a side note, I do actually dislike how they changed the fluff of the BT, btw)

Somewhere in the warp is a daemon representing all the frustration of dealing with Apple products. Think about it.

Oh, right, Garro. I didn't follow the audio dramas, would I be super lost if I picked the ebook of this up?

Yeh i think you might be a bit lost.  Garro is not the same guy he was in FotI.  Even if the book has the same cast.  The book might still be good though.

I have been quick to get all the Garro stuff, and I am a bit mad that I wont be getting this one any time soon.  I love the spoilers here but people always miss stuff.  The silent WAR story line is full of Easter eggs, hard to spot them all.

Question...... Libertas has been at the center of a lot of my conspiracy theory's.  What happens with this blessed blade in this book?

Just read the spoilers of this book.

It sounds *so* lame. Why oh WHY is the Vindicare from Nemesis still alive? And why is he evil now? The only redeeming quality of Nemesis was the the way in which he apparently dies, trying to fly his space craft into the bridge of the Vengeful Spirit with the whole "I am the weapon" shpiel. That was cool. But now he's alive and running around on Terra 20 odd books later? Jesus that is so poor. And I don't even want to know how poorly Sigismund is written. Thank god we have French and ADB actually doing the character justice.

Has James Swallow been taken off the main writing team for the Horus Heresy? He's not produced a half decent book since FotE.

I am glad that I have read Gunsite, and most of the other short reads.  With out the full story and relying on others interpretations in spoiler form, might give me a similar view.  BL has not made it easy to get the full story.  Quick reads, Audio dramas and Limited editions are quote the gauntlet.  The Silent WAR story line is harder then most in this area.

James Swallow is doing a great job with his part of the over all story.  I think he has a particularly hard job and is apt to get on the bad side of many Heresy fans.  The Silent WAR is going a long way to shift the Canon.   I for one am grateful for his and the others work even when it takes the story in a direction that offends my Loyalist Fanboy hopes and dreams.

So I am not the biggest audio book person, as in it's hard for me to sit through them. Can someone spoiler a run down on Garro's adventures and where he seems to be heading? I'm just not sure what his role is/will be.

For this audiobook specifically or everything up until now?

If it's this audiobook specifically

Garro runs into an Munitorum analyst who is currently on the run from Mechanicum forces. Reason being is because the Mechanicum forces are charged with hunting her down because she stumbled across Malcador's hidden troop and supply movements, although they don't realize it is Malcador yet. Of course, they eventually find out it is Malcador's plan for creating the Grey Knights and Garro and Malcador have an argument that is then followed by Garro renewing his oaths and promising to be the sword of truth to Malcador's shield of lies.
