Fortis
While clearing up my workspace in the spare bedroom for an impending overnight guest, I noticed a small blob of green stuff had found its way on to the carpet, and had stuck fast. It was not mixed however (i.e. from the "middle" of the putty strip - equal green and blue parts), so I tried to scrape it off with my fingernails, and while succeeding in getting some off, also managed to smear it deeper into the shag. I havent tried any cleaning products yet to try to get it out, but besides regular carpet cleaners (which I suspect may not be the right thing to tackle this particular problem), does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the best way to get GS out of fabric? Any previous experience in doing so? Your help will be appreciated. bl00dzy
Hi Fortis You could try Coke? its great for getting chewing gum out of hair and carpet I hear due to the acids that it is made from. Fortis
Cheers Bloodzy, certainly worth a try, though I will have to argue the case with my better half. She may not agree with adding further mess-making products to her nice beige-grey carpet!!! However, sometimes you need to make things worse before they get better. NovemberIX
I'd stay away from the coke due to the dyes they use, it'll stain the carpet that much more (especially if it's beige) I can recommend baking soda (with a small amount of water to make a paste) or vinegar, not both at the same time though. Failing that bust out with a heavy duty carpet cleaner (the machine not the sprays) and get that area really worked on. Hellios
does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the best way to get GS out of fabric? Any previous experience in doing so? Nuke it from orbit... It's the only way to be sure. Daevyll
Get some fresh balls of the stuff, dunk them in assorted containers filled with different liquid removal candidates, and check in the morning what works. Of course, this also provides a spectacular practical joke opportunity for your better half should she be so inclined. Teetengee
Superglue solvent or debonder or any of the paint removal products that have a tendency to dissolve gs should work, although I have no idea what they will do to the carpet and they really should not be used inside. Fortis
Its nice to see the brethren gather round and succour at another's time of need! I think I will go with the baking powder/vinegar route first. Those products do wonders - no need for any other harsh chemicals to clean your house with. Except Coke for the cleaning the toilet! If that fails, Ill go with the orbital bombardment...
