grand_master85
Thanks chap. There's a chest in there which is slightly different to the others and there's one helmet with flames (though it gives you the enough options in the set if you don't want to have to use them; there are 6 chests for the 5 guys, plus 6 helmets and a bare head). I'm tempted to do a squad of the Fire Drakes in just black armour. Perhaps a bodyguard for a chaplain or just something to look different. Millicant
I don't think the red shield is too "Christmas-y" at all. However, I will say that looking at it, with the red as you have it, it's just BEGGING to be painted like burning embers or coals. Brighter at the bottom and maybe drybrushed up to a darker scorched black-brown...? Ooooh sexy. grand_master85
The penultimate update for my Firedrakes. I'm not far off finishing them now, I just need to finish the highlights for the green armour, and highlight the bronze with silver, finish layering and highlighting the bases and then do the chains etc hanging from the shields and torsos, and they'll be complete! Couldn't be happier though with the scheme. I had my doubts after painting the first one, but I wouldn't change them now. I'm tempted to have a few big squads of them and potentially mix the schemes around a bit; so having one with green armour and shields, one squad with black armour and red shields, and a third squad with green armour and black shields. Just for a bit of variety. I'm planning on getting 50 of them (that's right, 50!!). Should make for an interesting game... Anyways, without further ado, here they are. Papa V is also making an appearance in some shots. These particular Firedrakes will act as a bodyguard for him (hence trying to tie in the colours on Vulkan's armour) inside a Spartan Assault Tank, which will be the next thing to do once the squad is finished. Firedrake Bodyguard: Firedrake Master: Vulkan and his Firedrake Bodyguard: Also, how are my fellow Salamanders players faring? Has anyone else got a variation of the scheme that they would like to show? MakoBoy88
Yo.Youre Salamanders are absolutely outstanding. I think i saw them over on a FB group and i told you there how awesome they are.I myself, probably wont go with an olive green style like you have, even though i know its pretty right smack on, but im more up for an emerald, darker less vibrant style. Vibrant green, shadowed with black, but less than the current 40 style, blurgh. If you do go 50 of them, are you running Pride of the Legion? That would be sick,I get paid in like 3 weeks, and im counting down until i get me some Sallies in my life. Starting with 10 Mk2 Tacticals from FW and go from there. Probably going to get a Praetor to treat myself to after painting the Troops.Im loving your flame effect, its spot on, id like to see you do it on some Vehicles and shizz. grand_master85
Thanks chap :) yeah that's what I like aout these sorts of posts, everyone like something different so whatever works for you. Nice to see another Sallies player, you will be expected to show examples on here as soon as though! Never tried freehand before..fortunately I have some Salamanders land raider doors I found that I've plonked onto a Spartan Assault Tank, which is the next job to do (and Vulkan and the Foredrakes dedicated transport). Perrin
"Commander, the teleport beacon seems to have malfunctioned. We appear to have materialised on some sort of giant... picnic table". Lovely paint scheme btw Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293670-salamanders-paint-scheme/page/4/#findComment-3774021 Share on other sites
grand_master85
Haha, the way the sun passes from one side of my house to the other means I don't have much in the way of light onto the front or back, so have to keep taking pictures in the garden. Thanks, btw. It's taken sometime to find the Legion that was right for me, but I feel like I've found my niche at long last. I'm about a third of the way through layering the Spartan already. Mako - I don't even have to go PotL; I can use 40 of them as Elites and 10 as a bodyguard for Vulkan if I want to ;-) I can't wait to see the look on my friend's face. He plays Sons of Horus and laments a lot the lacking quality of the Justaerin rules.
