Heat scaring on exhaust/afterburner ports an weapons

While not exactly the same, you could do the same thing people do with flamers.

 

Drybrush the surrounding area with a brown, then drybrush more tightly around the area with some black. A quick and easy effect but looks pretty good.

 

I've seen people use blues and purples and the effects look beautiful, although I've no idea how they achieve that effect lol

I usually do successive washes of sepia, devlan mud and badab black moving further toward the nozzle/muzzle end.  It takes a lot of washes and a lot of drying time to do, but the effect is good.  That's with silver/gunmetal colored nozzles.  I've started adding a purple wash to the mix on some of my flamer/melta nozzles that are painted with a brassy color.
