Captain Idaho
Sorry on a train, poor reception so need to type quickly. And I just lost my job too so I'm distracted. BS reduction in Scatter is direct fire only. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293757-orbital-bombardment/page/2/#findComment-3770304 Share on other sites
Axagoras
and if the rhino can see its target it can subtract the scatter, kinda meant to add the part where it has to see it but unlike a chapter master who even if the enemy is 3 inches away cannot reduce scatter. and since it can move 6 and fire the blast its not too hard to keep it safe then call it in. SyNidus
Well that's news to me...and that's also incredibly awesome!I've been having thoughts of running a Chapter Master and also a damocles to get 2 Orbital Bombardments. Kilofix
But, at some point you could probably just go with a bunch of IG Basilisks and Wyverns (or as I prefer; Medusas and Colossus Bombards). Jolemai
An interesting point about the Damocles is that although it's a HQ choice, it doesn't fill up a HQ slot on the FOC. SyNidus
So technically, you could run 2 chapter masters and a Damocles to get 3 orbital bombardments? Interesting...this in itself would force most if not all opponents to deploy piecemeal so as to protect their forces. Even if your bombardments don't do too much, you'd already have your opponents in a good formation to be taken apart by a fast moving force. minigun762
How are people using the OB if they're not running on bikes? I prefer power armor builds, so I'm stuck on how I'd get to drop the nuke effectively. Captain Idaho
I do it this way: Land Raider deployed in a position to move forward/shoot as appropriate. Chapter Master deploys within 2" of the Land Raider access points. First turn you move the Land Raider 6" forwards, fire both Lascannons and then drop the Orbital bombardment. Land Raider can also block the opponent's line of sight. Second turn you move the Chapter Master up to back within 2" of the access points. Get in and voila. You're going for a third turn charge anyway. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293757-orbital-bombardment/page/2/#findComment-3775942 Share on other sites
tomsev
Armour of indomptis, gets you relentless and a phase of magic armour, so you can fire it from a rhino... Fallen11
I am toying with idea of joining my chapter master(SE,TH,AA) in a pod with centurions. SW allies for pod. Take star phantoms tactics so you have TL on everything on turn you arrive, better than UM tactics and CM can rereoll scatter, right?. CM goes with centurions to baby sit them on turn they arrive. Centurions can fire on one target, and CM fires orbital on something different since centurion captain has that thing that allows one model from unit to shoot at different target. Enemy turn, CM can soak some dmg if needed and if something gets close, he detaches himself from centurions and goes to smash things in CC. What do you think? Axagoras
very solid unit, jut make sure to watch for tau interceptor. For my only moving 6 a turn is too slow but that unit looks like it can do a lot of work Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293757-orbital-bombardment/page/2/#findComment-3830392 Share on other sites
Captain Idaho
I thought it was just the model that can split fire? I'll have to check but my rule book is unavailable. Axagoras
its a unit with at least 1 model with the rule can split fire lol... how stupid of a rule is that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293757-orbital-bombardment/page/2/#findComment-3832572 Share on other sites
malorn24
sort of on topic. For those that run two CM's what is the point level you begin to do this? Axagoras
yes i'm referring about direct fire, you can never subtract your BS otherwise. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/293757-orbital-bombardment/page/2/#findComment-3838655 Share on other sites

GreyCrow
The Armour Indomitus is not a good piece of gear for the price it is. If you're paying for Relentless, Terminator Armour or a Bike both bring a lot much (extra gear or 12" move per turn). The 2++ for a Turn helps, but not too much. I have a hard time finding a good reason to use it, except to keep things Wysiwyg, and even still, that's a steep price to pay. Perhaps if the shield eternal and armour indominus swapped point cost the armour would be worth the points. I have ran it on a powerfisted CM, with the relic bolter, as it had decient synergy and was a easy wysiwyg (limited ed captain #1).
