Wolf Tail Talisman in 7th?

Hi.

Pretty sure this has been adressed but I cant seem to find it. How does the Wolf Tail Talisman work now in 7th? Is it a 5+ dispell like in previous eds or do you use dice as normal but get success on 5+? Thanks for your help :-)

Unless FAQ'd otherwise I'm pretty sure it's a dispel on a 5+..

This came up at my local club. We reason it goes like this:

 

- opponent declares power

- opponent rolls for warp charges

- wolf player attempts DTW

- fails DTW

- dispels power on another single roll of 5+

Aye, until it is FAQ'd then you get this roll as well as the normal DTW. So roll your DTW as normal then after go for a 5+ if you fail. Also it is worth noting that this doesn't have the same limitations as the normal DTW roll (where you need to get a number of denials equal to the number of successful rolls to nullify). One dice, one roll, irrespective of  WC etc.

does the power/psyker have to be within 24" of the bearer of the talisman?

No, the wolf tail talisman is something you give to a character model to act as their personal psyker shield

I'd say it's a modifier to your usual dtw roll in this edition. Which would give you a 5+ dtw with powers being directed at you.

 

That's how it use it anyways, don't see why you'd get a normal dtw and then talisman roll, nobody gets 2 separate rolls.

I think the lack of statement in the latest FAQ shows clear intent that they are not likely to be updating the existing codex further to be in line with the 7th. Bring on the new codex!!

 

With that said the previous statement was that you had to choose, so it wouldn't have had an effect on the functionality of the talisman, which to my mind has never been altered. Therefore, the "fair" way to play it would be to use either your DTW dice pool, or the talisman if you are targeted with a power. Otherwise just DTW as normal. 

 

I think Jbat is correct and it will probably be our own adamantium will but until that day Jbat, it is as it reads (5+ to dispel, not a bonus to deny the witch).
