Hi there, I've been out of the hobby for quite a while and agreed to do my first army in a long time as part of a slow grow, month by month sort of deal with a couple of friends (they're doing tyranids and tau). I have no idea what the game is like in practice now or what I should be taking so any and all criticism is much appreciated.

This seems like a good list, you've covered all the major bases and I can't really find any way to improve it as it is (footslogging anyway), the only thing I'd really be worried about is if you can't get into assault with the enemy, while you shouldn't have a problem with this against the Tyranids you'll be fighting, the Tau will most likely mop the floor with this list, but there's not really anything you can do to stop that, especially with World Eaters, 7th edition favours shooting more than anything else, close combat is the least effective strategy right now, and the Tau are the best shooters in the game, so any fight against them is going to be an uphill battle.

EDIT:  Actually there is a way you can make it effective against the tau, and that's to do the old Black Templar strategy, and make a close combat oriented army into a gunline, only using assault defensively, having hatred is a huge deterrent to any unit of theirs that could assault you, fury of the legion will wreck their units, so will any heavy squads with Rotor Cannons or Volkite Culverins.

Also, are you paying for those extra weapons (chain axes or extra combat blade)?  Because you can take Bolters, Bolt Pistols, and Chainaxes for only +2 points per chain axe, and if you swap the bolter, you can swap it right to a Chainaxe for nothing at all, you don't need to get it separately, and there is no benefit for having a combat blade, a Chainaxe, and a bolt pistol, you only need two of the three to get the extra attack.
