henchman spam...

Yeah, just take the one Psyker dude. They're over twice as expensive as normal Acolytes, so you should only be taking 1 (2 if you Peril a lot). 

 

By doing that and buying them Razorbacks, you can generate two charges per Troop slot very cheaply, and still get a decent gunboat and an 'Objective Secured' unit out of it. It'll be the next army I attempt after I'm happy with my main Knights list. Henchmen Mech brings a lot of warp charges, cheap armour and cheap infantry, and leaves all the important slots (Elite and Heavy) free to take our powerful units.

I suppose it only works in unbound or huge numbers of force orgs. One crusader in front, one warrior, and one psyker allows for the storm shield save on foot sloggers. (I would only do that loadout on a few squads in front and then just 2 warrior one psyker squads behind them. It is cheaper than razorbacks (especially from a money standpoint).

You do realise the first time you fail your 3+ save, you lose it forever? People won't be shooting low AP at Henchmen anyway, you'll be getting dakka'd to death by bolters and other basic anti-infantry. Against that stuff, the storm shield is relatively worthless (T3 means you're easy to wound and massed fire will kill you anyway). 

 

Crusaders are better in a dedicated melee warband, providing a meatshield for your Death-Cultists in melee. In melee, you are going to be hit by far less attacks, and probably power weapons. Your Crusaders will still probably die, but they'll tank a lot better and let your DCA blenderise safely.
