I don't get the green.

WoT: Thats the official FW recipe. It looks great in real life, but it's really difficult to get a decent photo of it (I've tried myself!)

It actually looks like a pearlescent black - ie black with a purple/green "oily" surface - a bit like a beetle's carapace. A bit like this:

IRON HANDS COLOUR SCHEME

1. Undercoat the model with GW Black Undercoat spray

2. Drybrush layers of Rub and Buff Pewter to blend up from black to silver.  with the silver parts being the most raised areas.

3. A small amount of Tamiya Clear Yellow was added to Tamiya Smoke and this was airbrushed over the whole model and the model was then left to dry.

4. GW Druchi Violet was then airbrushed over the model in random patches.

5.  Tamiya Clear Green was then airbrushed in patches over the previous two colours.

6. The whole model was airbrushed with a layer of thinned down Tamiya Smoke and the model was then left to dry.

7. The model was then protected with a coating of GW Purity Seal.

Couple of questions. What's Rub and Buff Pewter? Is Tamiya another paint company? I've never heard of them.

Also, I can't remember, and don't have my copy of Massacre to hand, could someone remind me what weapon options the Gorgon get?

Edited for spelling.

Rub & Buff Pewter is a Guilding Wax. It's not vital to use that, I use Vallejo Model Colour Oily Steel instead and get similar results.

Tamiya is another Model Company, they have their own great range of acrylic paints.

The Gorgon Hammerbearer (Sergeant) has a Combi-Bolter & Thunder Hammer as standard, and the Gorgon Terminators have Combi-Bolters & Power Axes as standard.

The unit can take up to 5 additional Terminators, and the Terminators can exchange Axe for a Power Fist, Chainfist or single Lightning Claw, or exchange both weapons for a pair of Lightning Claws.

1 in every 5 Terminators can upgrade to a Heavy Flamer, Reaper Autoncannon or Graviton Gun.

The Hammerbearer can exchange his Combi-Bolter for a Combi-Weapon, and can also take a Cyber-Familiar and a Grenade Harness.

i hope we will get the missing weapon options, or at least the graviton gun. same for firedrakes who missed the heavy flamer >.>

I really didn't like them, til I saw them unpainted. They're more like Indomitus armour than any other termi armour right?

yes good sir they are! The helmets and back of the legs look just like it. And that makes sense as they are the predominate Mk of tactical dreadnought armor Post heresy/40k. and I agree they look better unpainted!

I like them, a hell of a lot more than the goofy looking Tartaros terminators.

I might try to get a squad or two of these. :) The IH symbols stripped off, of course, lol.

Just wait, the IW Tyrant ones will be soooo much nicer than these

I don't know why, but I truly dislike these models - The Firedrakes and Phoenix Guard are beautiful, whereas these are not

I'm surprised by the mixed reaction the Gorgons have received. I guess FW have just set the standard so high!

My Sons of Horus are grateful for Ferrus' donation of such nice new Terminator armour at Istvaan. msn-wink.gif

Shouldn't be too hard to shave off the Iron Hands details and fill in the cog pattern trim on the shoulder pads with greenstuff.

Models look great. The colors confused me until I read the posts here. Being color deficient when I looked at them I though the armor was red and I kept wondering why these Iron Hands are in Word Bearer colors.

I like the servo skull attachment on the one terminator. Need more of those as well as Cherubs.

Without the paint they look cool. Can definitely see them as pre-Indomitus armor.
