A son of the Lion infiltrating the Fang.....

Hi all,

After hearing about Stormclaw, I thought I'd pick up the box for the rules, sell the minis and maybe turn a slight profit.

Then I started reading.  And reading.  And then I decided to keep the Space Wolves and swap out the Orks for a few more wolves if possible.

Cutting a long-ish story short (I got the box earlier this afternoon!) I have a small Space Wolf army!  So far, it looks like:

Krom Dragongaze

15 Wolfguard Terminators

10 Grey Hunters

10 Blood Claws

Now, I've never been too up on the SWs but, I guess I could make the BC's into GH's & vice versa, depending on what happens with the new codex.

Anyway, as the afternoon has progressed, I think I have decided on a very small (compared to my other armies!!) SW army which I can ally with.  Krom, WG termies deep striking (if this rumour is true!) and 2 drop pods of the BC's & the GHs. But I do like the idea of Thunderwolf Cavalry.......... ;-)

Obviously, depending on the size of the game, I'll use them as the 1st turn deep strike and use my Dark Angels as the gun line.

Anyway - lots of ifs and buts there, but just thought I'd come over from the Rock and say Hi........and await your 'champion' to try and give me a slap if you're all still into that historical honour nonsense ;-)

Cheers

Welcome to the Fang, it's always good to see more wolves in the halls, even if they might wear dresses some of the time!

As for your army I wouldn't hold my breath for SW terminators to get Deep Strike, that seems to me to simply be a copy/paste error for the campaign booklet. However having a bunch of SW terminators is no bad thing, if anything our termies are even more versatile in their armament and roles than the DA ones!

For your other infantry I'd suggest buying a couple Tactical Squad boxes to swap parts with. This gives you double the infantry and helps spread the bits out some. Concentrated from the SW box the wolfy details are a little dense for my taste and by combining them with a tactical box you spread those details out nicely and get to mix in the wider array of special weapons from the tac squad box.

They aren't dresses!  We're a cultured lot that wear dressing gowns and smoking-jackets!  And we have table manners..... ;-)

but enough of the banter!  Thanks for the advice.  I've decided I'm going to build up Krom's force exactly as it appears in the fluff (parts and all) and then wait until the Codex is release.  The last thing I want to do is build a load of illegal minis!

Moogy, I have a post in this forum about shopping for 7th.  I too have the Krom box set, but will not be doing much to it other then converting him to Bran until the new codex comes out.  But some good tips in my thread as well as possible shopping combos for rumored stuff coming out.

Welcome aboard.  It's an exciting time for the Fang, and I expect new and old Wolves will be dragging themselves into the Great Hall pretty regularly for the next few months.  For now, just sit on what you've got, and don't make any decisions until the new codex is out and has been dissected by everyone.  By then, Brother Ramses will have his What to Purchase thread all ready to go, and you'll be set.

Pull up a chair.

From some one who hasn't played in a while, but is coming back around welcome the the Fang. I can't give advice about what is good right now, but Vash made a good point if you want to try and build up some numbers, and get some toys, I need more missile launcher.....

And we will see how these dressing gowns and smoking-jackets hold up in the drinking halls ;)

you know that is what I was just thinking as well some of us are a bit umm rough around the edges so to say. with that picks up a stine and drinks it's contents in one swollow.

Besides, the God of Thunder wears a dress now, so any wayward Dark Angels should fit right in among cross dressing Vikings of the stars. biggrin.png

i about had a heart attack when i heard that was the decision.

But i have an intersting question now that thor is a chick and marval is now owned by disney does that make thor a disney princess now???

Thor and Princess Leia both...

Neither look as "hot" as Hunter/Forest Green power armor lined up in their "dresses" and spewing bolts at Xenos though - hot lead and all that. :D (Just to make this more board appropriate)

LOL, I was about to join in the dress wearing jokes but suddenly realised I'm chinese and our historical clothes look somewhat like dresses so I shouldn't make fun of the knights of caliban. So I won't call them dresses then, but proper monk robes.
