They look fantastic man!

Paint whatever you're most motivated to paint IMO! Helps avoid burnout.

Cheers dude. Unlike my other SM armies, I'm finding the Wolves quite easy to paint, as all the pelts and gold break up the monotony of the armour.

Agreed. I also find that by the time I have picked over all of the armor plates I get to paint more organic pieces and break up the blue!! I really like the WGPL, great pose and quite the menacing looking character!!
Nice work!!

End of Line

One final update before bed, decided to start Icetooth for Harald:

Surprisingly, this is the first Wolf I've ever painted, not counting pelts from my previous Space Wolves armies. I think it turned out ok. What do you guys think?

Cheers,

WW

these guys look great!! ,with the wolf(he looks fantastic too) i would do a drybrush highlight on the top fur...prob with main color and some ushabti bone in the mix to lighten it msn-wink.gif

really good stuff, very motivational (damn you laugh.png )

cheers Mithril

Hi Wraithwing. I really like the grey you used for your hunters, what grey are you using. Your painting style is also very nice and very crisp.

Really lking what you are doing. And the thunderwolf is coming along swimmingly, acnt wait to see how you paint up Harald.

Thanks for the kind words.

Recipe for the Grey Hunters is as follows:

Prime White

Basecoat of The Fang

Wash of Nuln Oil over whole miniature

Layer of Russ Grey, leaving basecoat and shading in the recesses

Edge highlight of Fenrisian Grey

strangely the colour palette on that wolf seems super familiar to me. Is it reminiscent of a Disney character - Goofy? I do like it, though. Nice mix of contrast (I think that's where I'm getting the comic/cartoon vibe) and drybrushing.

Little bit more of an update tonight.

Started on Harald. Wanted to take my time over the armour, so it's a little neater than the rank and file. Lighting isn't great, but you get the idea:

Hopefully I'll make a real dent in him over the weekend and have him finished.

Presenting Harald Deathwolf, Lord of the Wolfkin:

There's a few finishing touches to be done, such as Icetooth's eyes (have no yellow paint!), but overall, I'm pretty happy with the way he's turned out.

Looking forward to seeing him charge across the battlefield accompanied by his Thunderwolf Cavalry!

Cheers,

WW

Where did you get the face for Ragnar?  Just curious (and I'm just starting out).

It's from the old Space Wolves accessory sprue, combined with a topknot from an Ork Nob.

It's still available here:

Right, time for an update!

Grey Hunter Pack 1 is now finished. Here's the second half:

Here's the whole pack together:

And finally, a shot of all painted units so far in this new army:

Now I just need to decide on what to paint next. TWC, Wolf Priest, or another pack of Grey Hunters?

Cheers,

WW
