MakoBoy88
Iya.After much deliberation and back and forth and general uselessness, i have decided that the Legion for me, is Iron Hands.I know that currently there is a massive feel for massive 20 man Tactical squads and shizz, but i really dont feel that, im feeling a heavy Mech force with Dreadnoughts, Terminators and heavy Vehicles. So, that being said, i have NEVER seen more than 1 game of 30k be played, and that was two morons playing. So what Vehicles are shining examples of awesome, I hear alot of Buzz about Sicarans, Mortis Contemptors, Fire Raptors? etc etc, what do people think. Also, the Rite of War : The Head of the Gorgon. Is that atually any good, i see people use it, but, is it actually any good? Thanks guys. Any other tips or advice for the Iron Tenth would be helpful. Russ Brother 92
I haven't tried the Head of the Gorgon RoW as yet, running my IHs in a Pride of the Legion force, purely as it allows me 60+ Cataphractii as Troops plus 6-12 (dependant on other choices) Contemptors :D From what others have said it's quite situational and based around someone splitting up their forces - however infiltrating transports (especially assault vehicles) can be devastating. MakoBoy88
Yeah tbh I am thinking of running another RoW, i do love the Pride of the Legion one, but i can see me not running my shiny Tactical Squads which i spent alot of itme and energy on haha. Ishagu
Kitted out Spartans are awesome, Sicarans are awesome, Ferrus Manus is awesome lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294145-the-iron-tenth/#findComment-3754129 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
Why not trial it without a RoW (they are incredibly restrictive), see what units you end up favouring most, what perform better than expected and what doesn't (foot slogging terminators is far worse in 30k than 40k) - as Ishagu said Spartan, Sicarans and a few others (Mortis Contemptors come to mind) are on the 'good to have' list whilst (unless using particular lists) nothing is auto-take/auto-win like 40k. MakoBoy88
This "Nothing is an Auto Include" is so awesome. Such a good thing about 30kI must admit, having had a look about the books and FW I m falling love with the idea of 18 guys, with Apothecary, and a Character, in a Spartan. With Sicarans, Tactical Supports, Tarantula Turrets and Rapier Defence platforms.Id like some artillery too i tihnk. MakoBoy88
Oh you beauiful man.Any other fluffy combo's. Do you think Contemptors are worth it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294145-the-iron-tenth/#findComment-3754693 Share on other sites
Slips
Contemptor-Mortis' are very much so since they can provide good anti-air / interceptor and anti-tank. They're also beautiful models so whats not to love. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294145-the-iron-tenth/#findComment-3754695 Share on other sites
MakoBoy88
Well this is true, but using that rule wouldnt it be better to go the Ladcannon route? Which is something i am up for ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294145-the-iron-tenth/#findComment-3754705 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
I currently (only own 3 mind you) run 2 Mortis-Contemptors, one Twin-Las and one Twin-Kheres - in 6th the Kheres was by far the better (stripped hull points by the dozen and could easily shred infantry), however the extra punch from the Las worked out better vs planes (more chance to knock 'em out the sky) and heavy tanks (LRs, Predators etc.) where you're better off going for the one hit kaboom than the long haul (by which point it's probably done it's job). The other thing to think about is what roles you want units to perform - a Heavy Flamer squad is good for area denial and anti-light inf. but then again so is a volkite toting support squad (which has more range and far more shots). A praetor looks and sounds real good - except then you have to work out how to deliver him to his area of excellence (melee combat) which (for most if not all) requires a high expenditure of points (bodyguards, transport + other shielding/supporting units) - 30k is all about synergy.
