cheesers
Hi I love the look of the Forge World medusa gun carriage and want to squeeze one into my 1000pts list. I have a bunch of questions though and im having trouble answering them. I cant really justify the monetary cost if i cant actually use it. A) i would be using it with vanilla guard which i gather is fine. However i cant find the rules to go with the 7ed. Rulebook, can i just use the rules meant for 6ed? B) currently i pretty much only play at my local GW store. I know they have a "relationship" with forgeworld but i have been out of the loop for a while. If i rock up with a medusa will i be able to use it in tourneys and casual 'instore games'. They have got abit beady eyed in the past over non GW model conversions. Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294153-medusa-gun-carriage-vanilla-guard-7ed-questions/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
FW is owned by GW, they are functionally a department that runs mostly separately to my knowledge. FW units are legal in 40k games - rules are only supplanted by new ones so always use the latest ones, it's unlikely that the Medusa's rules have changed for 7th but I don't know the latest comings and goings of FW. I'm sure someone else can help you find the source for the latest rules though Here's the tricky part - some people dislike FW, or think it's overpowered or broken or any other of complaints. While you may disagree with them they're not obliged to play against FW just the same as you can't be made to play against armies featuring the colour red if you so wish. FW can be a bit of a hotly debated point, so I'd strongly recommend you clarify with your opponent when organising a game. So your GW store won't have any problems with you turning up with a FW model but finding opponents might be different! As always, communication is key so as long as you make your position clear there shouldn't be any hard feelings but it might make pick up games harder if that's how you usually play so I'd take backup non-FW lists just in case if you can. CoffeeGrunt
However, the Medusa did once feature in the 5th Edition Codex, so you can say you're only using the rules to, "bring it back," as it were. Find a Tyranid player and try to mutually complain over lost Marbos and Malan'tais, you should get along well. Thanks for they reply guys ! I remember the Medusa on tank chasis. Its not so much finding people to play but not getting grief in tournaments. If its legal then its legal and im not worried. Medusa here i come! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294153-medusa-gun-carriage-vanilla-guard-7ed-questions/#findComment-3753919 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Tournaments will have their own rules, so go by them and you're golden. If it's not clear just ask the organisers beforehand to make sure :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294153-medusa-gun-carriage-vanilla-guard-7ed-questions/#findComment-3754152 Share on other sites
