ODST

Honda and HLVW have inspired me to start working on a 'Drop Detachment' too.

Hope you guys don't mind the imitation - as I'm done with ETL III, I need a new project.

(Besides there needs to be some Renegade representation in this genre instead of just BT)

Anyway, here's my start; just finished a couple more Valks. Started basecoating Scion models. Still have more Valks in boxes. Thinking about getting an Avenger.

Thinking about doing an ODST'ish / ACU'ish grey disruption camo for the Infantry while the Gunships stay green / tan.

Also, I wanted to build some sort of mobile ground scouting / command vehicle. Any thoughts other than a Chimera or Taurox? I'm open to anything (doesn't have to be Codex legal). All opinions welcome.

Thanks for visiting!

Nice, This will definitely help to keep me going with mine. The ODST theme is one of the major inspirations that got me started with mine. For your command vehicle if you don't mind going with different models, you could always try a Russian BMP transport, they are meant to be air dropped and have a guard look to them already.

Look forward to following this.

Thanks for the opinions and compliments.

The Scout / Command vehicle I'm planning for does not necessarily need to be drop capable. I'm toying with the idea of doing something like a Damocles Command Vehicle  to thematically act as a mobile radar. Maybe I'll just put a radar on a Hydra chasis. Not sure yet.

Also, I wish Scions had Drop Pods. Maybe I'll build some to match anyway even if they aren't Codex legal.

Edit - Question, if I decide to fill an additional Valk with Inq Acoytes (currently painted in grey'ish color scheme) - should I paint that one Valk in the same grey'ish color scheme, or should I keep all the Valks green and tan?

If I do, it'll be 1 green / tan Vulture, 4 green / tan Valks, 1 grey Valk. Would that look odd together?

Finished my ODST'ish Storm Troopers - 2 Squads with Melta, 2 Command Squads with different Specials, a Medic, Commisar and a spare stock-Sgt.:

I haven't painted their eye lenses yet as I can't figure out an appropriate color. Opinions welcome.

Hard to see but I actually painted their bodysuits in urban camo (see fellow on left):

Added color bands on the chest and shoulders to denote role (i.e. Tan - Riflemen, Red - Specialists, Blue - Sgt. / Command, Green - Medic):

Still working on my Inquisitorial Valk. Also built some additional Inquisitors (1 OM TDA, 1 OH with PsyOcculum, 1 OX with Conversion Beamer, 1 OX with Needle). I'll otherwise use my DKoK for Inq Storm Troopers:

Throne damn it all! Ok everyone can stop now. I give up, you win. I'll get some Scions, are you happy now? laugh.png I'll have them as carapace veterans I think, perhaps even craft a special back story for them or some such?

Grand work indeed Kilo, you should be very pleased with them! I think a lighter blue could work for the lenses, or a green as HLVW said.

That was always the problem  Until now I struggled and justified it by saying I already have Stormies in the cool old school gas mask ones but I can't any more, I want them too much :P So carapace vets it is, but this is after the ETL though and not for a while as I've a few other things that need doing first such as Semper's Heroes :)

My Carapace Vets will be toting Fire Warrior Torsos and Shoulder Pads, cos y'now, Heresy.

The Scion Torsos will be a little awkward to convert to Carapace Vets as they'll be carrying backpacks and have a gap in their back designed to fit to it. Best thing to do IMO would be to get backpacks from the Heavy Weapons Team kits and the like to cover over it, and the extra equipment makes them seem more veteran.

I like to stick extra bits on my Vets, but we'll see what the kit holds. I think the backpacks look cool so I may well keep them, it would help make them look very well equipped too.

How long until the Valk will be finished?

Will hopefully finish the Inq Valk today.

Here's a pic of the ST backpacks:

There are a few different versions of the backpack and a bunch of different bits (pouches, canteens, etc.) that come with the Scion box.

They're really cool, I can't wait to get a couple of boxes. I'll get the Bullgryns I wanted too... plus a Russ and Chimera as I want some more of them. Ah wait, spending too much money again  I blame everyone for making me want to paint more! :P

I'll look forward to seeing the Valk, they'll make for a great combination on the table top :)
