Decisions, decisions, decisions...

So, I was a long time fluff lover-turned recent modeler and gamer. Problem is, like almost every other topic on this forum, I can't make any decisions.

 

When I first decided I was going to make the move from the books to the table, I was going to do the Minotaurs, and I began purchasing with them in mind. And boy did I begin purchasing! Halfway through (but thankfully before I began painting), though, I discovered the Heresy. Now, I've read the books for a long time and knew about it, but when I started seeing all the shiny new models being released by Forgeworld while I was searching for Minotaur-appropriate stuff, a light went off in my head. Why not a Legion?

 

So <shuddering madly> several purchases later I'm at a point where I really need to focus on building and less on buying (if I begin typing 'f' in the browser on my phone it immediately brings up forgeworld on eBay with the newest items available!).

 

Rather than following the formula of 'Help me decide between these legions because...,' I'm thinking that maybe I'll list what I've purchased and hope that someone or someones can point me in a solid direction.

 

Here's what I have bought, so far:

Vehicles, Transports, & Flyers:

Spartan x1

Achilles x1

Proteus x1

Deimos Vindicator x2

Deimos Predator Executioner x2

Sicaran Battle Tank x1

Sicaran Venator x1

Deimos Rhino x2

Javelin Attack Speeder x2

Scimitar Jetbike x10

Anvillus Dreadclaw Drop Pod x1

Caestus Assault Ram x1

Storm Eagle x3 (maybe 4 if you count a storm raven I have that will have the Chapterhouse extension)

Contemptors x10 (of varying legions and styles...I have a bunch. I was on a big robot kick at the time, and I was able to get some on eBay for real cheap)...

 

Troops and Elites:

I really don't think I need mention these...I have about forty Cataphractii and ten Tartaros terminators (purchased in the same period as the contemptors for the same reasons). I tended to graze and get a little of this legion's upgrades and terminators, and a little of that...it's a sickness.

 

So, that's where I am. I have a lot of stuff, but I don't know what I should do. So, B&C, what would you rather see? All of the above under the banner and colors of a single legion (which was my original intention), or should I just do task forces of three or so legions?

I need to say at this point that most of this, not all, has been built, and of that most has been primed white. I have been, of late, leaning toward BA or UM. But salamanders are cool...so are NL...and Loyalist WB...and LW...oh, and...see? It's a sickness.

As Brother Captain Lucian said, the Iron Warriors seem like a solid choice with your myriad of tanks, dreadnoughts and terminators. Imperial Fists could work as well.

 

But then, you've got those jetbikes and flyers too...

 

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but perhaps Guilliman's mob would be the best choice. Their excellent portrayal in the Heresy books have done wonders to ease the sting of the old codex.

Ultramarines, Salamander and specially IW fits best with all those tanks. Blood Angels will probably be less armoured and NL seem to be too? WB rite of war allows only for one heavy, IW allows for four.

 

I would at max do two legions, so one can ally with the other. Otherwise all the same legion and mechanicus allies ;)
