Word Bearers Chaos Knight

Recommended Posts

Hi,

had a WIP thread in the Chaos forum for my attempt at a Word Bearers Knight Paladin and upon finishing it, KrautScientist suggested I put the finished model up in the Hall of Honour section for finished projects. So here it is, all comments are welcome as they inspire me to keep painting.

Thanks

Thanks Guys!! :D really appreciate the suggestion KrautScientist, glad I moved it now.

Thanks Rift Blade!

Cheers Skrundle, glad you noticed it now and you like.

Thanks Raas! Means a lot coming from you, love your Night Lords, some great stuff there. Please steal away ;D thanks man!

Cheers Flint, it is quite hard to give an exact amount of time for this as the whole project took about a week and a half from undercoat to finish but I did the free hand a little at a time between painting the rest of the model over the course of about 4 days - I started adding free hand as soon as I finished the red highlights on a piece if armour and continued as and when a new surface was ready. But had I done it all in one go, right at the end I'm sure I could have easily fitted it into a day, maybe 3-4 hours non stop (and assuming I don't make any mistakes that need touching up).

If anyone else is interested in using my conversion ideas or want a painting guide I'm happy to edit that in at some point.

Thanks Guys!! biggrin.png really appreciate the suggestion KrautScientist, glad I moved it now.

Don't mention it! This awesome model deserves all the praise it can get, and the more people see it, the better!

I also love the idea of using those fiend smokestacks on the Knight! I would have loved to do something similar for my own Chaos Knight, but it was a tossup between converted exhausts or being able to take off the carapace in order to be able to look at the pilot and cockpit below, so I eventually chose the latter.

One small nitpick: For the future, you should definitely attempt to embed the pictures themselves rather than just link to them:

Granted, it's only a small thing, but forumites can be lazy ninkers ;)

So, next stop: your own WB thread here in the WIP section? Pretty please? ;)

That's true, I do like the pilot though, it's a nice, characterful edition. Although, could the carapace have been fixed and the door with the window in made removable so you can see in the cockpit without having to remove the whole back? Even if you just stuck so rails to hold so it's easy to slot in and out.

How do you get the photos like that? I wanted to from the beginning but I could not work out how to. Wouldn't let me do if via my flickr link.

Well, as you asked so nicely... ;D I already have my Traitor Guard thread in the lost and the damned (was in IG but got moved with the change and now isn't getting as much attention) but as they are WB themed anyway and I was getting ready to start a WB CSM log too there is no reason I cannot combine the two to one big Chaos WIP. Been writing fluff too so each unit posted should have an accompanying story.

How does that sound? My WB and Taitor Guard log, this time with pics when I work out how to.

Cheers Forte! :D

That's true, thanks though Olgerth, was hoping to replace it with the Khorne Bloodletters banner as it's existing one was too imperial looking but it was too big and the way the crater is positioned gets in the way. Although, I have an idea now so might be something to add after the ETL. Thinking I could combine the existing banner with a cut down versions of the Bloodletters. Will have to have a fiddle and see.

Hmm, I'd really like to see a huge, combined WIP thread of yours! Been taking a look at your Traitor Guard on Flickr, and I definitely want to see more of that, preferrably with a bit of fluff and WIP sprinkled in every now and then. Plus the WIP section here is a rather lively place, which should be great to give you lots of feedback and encouragement!

Regarding the picture, here's what I did in order to make it show up like that:

- Don't bother with the embed codes Flickr will give you -- they have never ever worked for me ;)

- Instead, go to the screen that displays your picture at a resolution of your choice, the right-click the picture and choose "Show image" (or something similar -- sorry, but my own browser uses the Proto-Gothic of old Jhermani ;) ). Copy the URL of the image (either by right-clicking again and choosing "Save image address" or by copying it from the browser's address line

- Next, go to B&C (or any forum, really) and write a post. When you have arrived at the point in your post where you want to add the picture, just click the little image icon above. Paste the image's URL into the dialogue that opens up -- PRESTO! You're done.

Hope this was understandable -- if you have any remaining questions, just let us know. I am confident we'll be able to help you out ;)

As for the top carapace plate on the Knight: I really needed it to stay removable during the conversion, for obvious reasons, but now the conversion's finished, I'd like to keep it detachable: That way, you'll not only be able to see the pilot, but also the whole cockpit and the engine block I put in behind the cockpit. So it was really a case of choosing one cool thing over the other.

Anyway, keep up the fantastic work! :)

Sorry guys, tried practicing what KrautScientist said for embedding images but just not getting anywhere. If anyone could help that would be brilliant as I'm hoping to start that WIP thread we mentioned and want to include photos properly instead of links.

Have Chrome if that helps.

Cheers

Ok Dark Apostle XVII you need to use the actual image link rather than the page link.

Currently you are using:

https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/122948524@N05/14724752825/

When you should be using:

[img=https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3846/14724752825_a7e3bb5c95_b.jpg]

This will render the following in your posts:

14724752825_a7e3bb5c95_b.jpg

Alternatively you can upload your pics to you B&C gallery space and link from there with the direct link to this picture option.
