Death and Defiance

Swallow and his censored.gif again. Hes got the longest winded book's, with the most forgetable character's. None have been good.

He doesn't have the heart of a angel, or the cold bloodedness of a assassin. GW should excomunicate him and his works.

He's a wispy gottee stroking monobrowd alpha legion fat scout. Pretending to be the sons of baal

Are you posting this stuff on every thread or something tongue.png I'm sure Mr Swallow is sorry that he stole your packed lunch or ran over your dog, or whatever it was that caused this vendetta against him.

And again, he wrote Flight of the Eisenstein, hardly the most long-winded book, and created Nathanial Garro, probably one of the most unforgettable character in the series so far.

At least you're consistent, homie. Good on you, I guess.

You'll find a lot of people who like JS here, though. Especially 'Eisenstein' and the Garro dramas. I have to wonder; it feels like you're claiming to have read most of his novels and none were good. Wouldn't you have stopped on, like, the second one?

I really don't know where this fat Alpha Legion scout being a fake Space Wolf/Blood Angel comes from but it's growing on me. It's actually kind of brilliant.

Eisenstein didn't really do a lot for me. I've read through it twice and my overall impression remains "Meh".

Much like my feelings on Galaxy in Flames, really.

Neither one had anything that I either enjoyed or was annoyed by to read over and over....no, I tell a lie, Saul Tarvitz whipping Lucius from one end of Isstvan 3 to the other by way of "Swords? You mean those things sissies use instead of THEIR FISTS?" was fun.

Still can't recall anything that happened in FotE except Euphrati Keeler saying Dorn couldn't cry, so she would cry for him.

The Garro audios do seem to be really popular, but maybe that is a format that is more accommodating to his writing style. How is the Fear to Tread audio book?

Personally, I just feel his work is forgettable. I'm not really put off by his writing, but they didn't really stand out as something of note. Forgive me, because I know this may sound arrogant, but it was more a problem of "not good enough" rather than "bad."

Which is why I am looking forward to the BA short. Two major Blood Angels were introduced in Fear to Tread, but I didn't feel like they were given much justice in the portrayal. Hopefully this short will do something to rectify that.

Must just be me that didn't like Eisenstein then. But that wasn't as long winded as his other efforts.

Well i don't think much of Garro either. But ho hum people love him, so what ever. There are so many more interesting character's around at that time that have been forgotten. Ancient Raylanor.....

The vox recording's left me wondering where the ff buttons was. Though that could be the british.

Just realized what i wrote, was a bit rough. But so is his portrayal of, well everything.

The Emp knows he has to lift his game, otherwise he might as well go back to generic bolter porn.

No i wasn't good enough, but most of his stuff isn't.  Well the bit about Amit was good, always nice to see wolves driven into the dirt. other than that daemon something something.

Just keep looking for it on ebay. I got my copy of Sedition's Gate for the retail price. No idea why the guy put it up so cheap, but oh well, I'm not complaining cool.png

Always looking, haha.

It's the people who bought four or five copies and are still selling them that gets my goat. One of those things. Not going to drop double on it - if I have to wait, so be it. Really happy that this'll be available just after - saves the pilgrimage to boot.

And again, he wrote Flight of the Eisenstein, hardly the most long-winded book, and created Nathanial Garro, probably one of the most unforgettable character in the series so far.

Garro was around before FotE. I remember the old IA of the Death Guard with the reference to him when it was originally suggested that he was looking for a cure for his legion.

James Swallows biggest problem is that he's a great sci-fi writer, but his 30K books don't feel like they take place in the right universe. Nemesis would've been a cool book had it been an independent project in a universe he created.

James Swallow books are like Kale. They nourish, and are perfectly good for what it does, but they just don't hit the spot.
