Dreadclaw Drop Pod Tactics....

Dreadclaws are Dedicated Transports for Terminator Squads of 5 or less, so if you don't run a Salamanders unique Rite of War, you're golden. A Pride of the Legion list running Dreadclaws with Troop Terminators sporting a ton of combi-flamers and Heavy flamers could be rather brutal, especially when backed up by something like a Firedrake squad charging forwards. 300pts is a lot to pay for a Terminator Assault Troop, but 5 Firedrakes with Power Swords and axes and Shields is rather tough and can cut through many lighter squads.

Fear just flat out sucks as a tactic, but is always nice if it works. It's massively overated by both players and FW

So if I want to use dreadclaws, I'm limited to:

  • Non RoW (because I can do whatever I feel like)
  • Orbital Assault (because I can put almost anything I want into drop pods)
  • Pride of the Legion (multiple dreadclaws carrying terminators)
  • Awakening Fire with many dreadnought drop pods.

Most of these look like they'd be decently fun to play... but none of them seem feasible in the short term. I'd need to go all in, buying a bunch of dreadclaws and/or dreadnought drop pods - neither of which would be that useful outside of these RoW choices. There are more interesting/important things for me to add to my collection in the short term.

Ah, well... I'll just hope that drop pods move into Fast Attack so I can buy them empty and put tacs in them. In the meantime, dreadclaws are off the list. mellow.png

Rule 1): Have Fun.

If you're not having fun, why bother :p Optimization with what you've got at hand can come later. The only Caveat would be unit loadouts. Figure that out before hand or Magnetize EVERYTHING. Lord Knows glancing at my terminators I have a fair few regrets with loadouts...

You're not wrong, but I'm not rich enough to follow your advice 100%. I DO like to be able to field legal lists and win games, at least once in a while!

But… dragons descending in flames, man!

Longtime lurker here, starting a SoH Legion after buying some stuff cheap from a friend and I want to play an agressive deep strike list. I'm confused, do the Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw DP's from book 3 replace the common ones from book One completly, or do SoH still have acces to the cheaper Dreadclaws as dedicated transports ?
