Reclusiarch Darius
They're allowing 'Come The Apocalypse' Allies? Ah, the stupid, it burns.... Might as well play Unbound at that point. It's just stupid. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294369-behold-the-heresy/#findComment-3759040 Share on other sites

Did you not read the background section where Grey Knights sacrificed innocents to Khorne as part of a ritual to defeat a greater daemon? GK fight fire with fire, and they do the bad things so worse things don't. Reclusiarch Darius
No fluff? Did you not read the background section where Grey Knights sacrificed innocents to Khorne as part of a ritual to defeat a greater daemon? GK fight fire with fire, and they do the bad things so worse things don't. Heretic propaganda. The Knights sacrificed pure servants of the Emperor, as their blood was the only key to victory. They didn't offer their skulls or souls to Khorne, if anything they were a sacrifice dedicated to the Emperor. If you don't recall, they banished a Bloodthirster, a mighty champion of Khorne. So things definitely didn't go as planned for Khorne. Knights do use sorcery and dark rites, but that's because the distinction exists only the minds of lesser men. Warp powers are warp powers, and you have to fight fire with fire when it comes to Chaos. Its only vulnerable to the same power that fuels it. As just one example, the rituals of exorcism require the Knight to invoke a daemon's true name, thus granting him temporary power over it (and temporarily severing its connection to its dark master). Of course, once the daemon is banished back to the warp, it eventually regain favour and returns (as barring their master choosing to destroy them, daemons are functionally immortal). Now, the Knight isn't entering into a pact with the master of the daemon, nor is he offering up tribute. He's literally blocking the connection and temporarily taking over control. Reclusiarch Darius
Why were the Relictors purged? They were using daemonically infused artifacts and technology to fight Chaos. It was unsanctioned and 100% heresy. Knights are exempt from such judgements as A: they're given the Emperor's gene-seed and authority and B: their loyalty and courage is beyond question. The Relictors are only normal Marines, and thus were being corrupted by exposure to the warp. They had to be purged. That is a very long way of saying, "yep, SJ's right, GKs do invoke the Warp to defeat the Warp." Thank you, RD, for recognizing that in your own way! : ) SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294369-behold-the-heresy/#findComment-3761490 Share on other sites

Thank you, RD, for recognizing that in your own way! : ) Haha, well its my way of explaining the nuances that you missed by just saying 'they sacrificed the Sisters to Khorne', which is inaccurate and glosses over the real mechanics/necessity of what they did. I've never said Knights don't use sorcery. That's kinda the point of them. They're using the same source of power, knowledge, spells, rituals etc as their nemesis. However, they wield such power and knowledge in the defense of humanity and to deny Chaos a foothold in realspace. Which sorta feeds into 40k's overarching theme; good and evil and merely perspectives, victory is survival. Humanity has to commit all sorts of horrific and evil acts, if it is going to survive.
