Noxnoctis22 Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 I just picked up a Warhammer 40K Dark Vengeance Starter Set - 7th Edition Updated from Ebay for the new mini rulebook. It made more sense to buy the whole set instead of just the mini rulebook itself. The thing is I already have all the DA units/models from the DV box set (6th edtion). Now I may try to resell the DA and Chaos units/models but I was hoping I'd be able to get some great ideas as what to do with the DA stuff I have doubles of now. I could leave them as is but I figure you guys may have some creative ideas as to how to use these units/models. Kit-bashing, conversions and such. Thanks! Brother dean Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 Its an easy mod as you know since you've done it... Just add RW biker legs from the upgrade sprue and chop the libby at the waist. Noxnoctis22 Posted July 30, 2014 Author Share Posted July 30, 2014 Using the extra bits from the DW Command/Terminator box is a GENIUS idea! Why I didn't think of that right away, I don't know. But I've already used 2 boxes to make 2 5-man DW Terminator squads so I should have plenty of bits to convert those DV Terminators to a Command Squad. As for the Libby on the bike, I'm definitely loving that idea. Might even magnetize the torso so I can swap the Libby out for another HQ down the line, maybe a Techmarine. It will be my 3rd DV set and I'll use the minis for different purpose : Represent successors chapter but use then as WS or UM allies. Bryan Blaire Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 Since the front body plate and head are one piece on most of the DV Terminators, it should be relatively easy to simply not put those on and use the DW Terminator box to provide new bodies and heads. For the bikers, you can use contents from the BK box to do altered torsos and heads, play with the bike leans by cutting off the nubs to mount them (and disguise this on the base) and you can adjust the weapons using the bolt pistols in the same kit. For the basic Marines, it's a bit harder, but you should be able to do some passable conversions with the new Sternguard or Tactical squad bolters (and maybe the DA Vet sprue), and it doesn't take much to do backpack swaps. IanSturrock Posted July 30, 2014 Share Posted July 30, 2014 I got 2 (so far) packs of the DV termies and made both sergeants into Deathwing Knights, tweaking the poses and adding the relevant weapons (bought from bitz suppliers). I'll try to post pics soon, if I get a new phone... Also did the librarian / biker conversion. Nice and easy, that. Also turned gave the captain a mace, to be the relic mace from the codex. These are some of my simple conversions. Plasma cannon to missile launcher, cypher inspired sgt and plasma for flamer. My third sgt has a straight head and sword swap. You could also use the plasma cannons as part of a dev. squad. I aquired 4 DV sets and have a new one on the way. Bashing the DV comp masters head with the knights watcher seems obvious but I would be keen to see some examples before I attempt it myself. I already started with these 3 from the RW Black Knight box. -RW Huntmaster -RW Black Knight w/Grenade Launcher -RW Black Knight w/Magnet for Banner Now these can be made from the new bikes. -RW Apothecary -RW Champion -RW HQ Bike Maybe magnetize the torsos for the Apothecary & Champion so I can run them as RW Black Knights as well. Just need to convert the bolters to plasma talons. Same with the HQ bike, magnetize it so I can use a Libby, Techmarine, Chaplain or Company Master.
