Strata
With a recent arrival of a long awaited box, i've gotten the start of my Heresy era Salamanders. Something small and simple to start off with, consisting of one plastic Tactical squad box, with all modern details scraped off, One set of Legion MkIII armor, One set of Legion MKIV armor, one set of Phobos and one set of Tigurus, and one set of Umbra bolters. As it stands i'm still sorting out the bits and doing clean up work, once thats completed i'll start building and posting my progress here. ++ We were the engineers of something spectacular, The tenders to the forge of enlightenment, The flame tempering the great crusade. We were set up, Betrayed, Slaughtered. We Survived. Ignited by anger, an inferno of hatred and fury. The path we walk scorched, charred, by the tempest of fire that we unleash. We are the sons of Nocturne, of Vulcan. From Ignea we march, the flames of retribution to engulf those responsible. ++ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294443-the-specters-of-ignea/ Share on other sites
Relict
Sounds like a good start! The FW Legion Mark IV Tactical Marines kit is one of my favorites - very simple, very clean, and very customizable. Perhaps you would consider investing in the Salamanders-specific heads and chests? Those are beautiful. Welcome to the Heresy and enjoy your stay! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294443-the-specters-of-ignea/#findComment-3760681 Share on other sites
Kor'Vesh
Welcome to the XVIIIth strata. Sounds like an excellent start. Check out grand master's thread on the salamanders paint scheme in this forum, and please do add your own guys once they are up and running. It good to have more sons of vulkan around. Love your little fluff piece by the way. It's really evocative and catches some of the less seen dark controlled fury of the legion. Excellent job. Really looking forward to seeing this develop! Strata
The first two brothers of Ignea are built up. I've utilized by armor mix idea between them, and done alittle conversion work so far on one, i think it should be noticeable without having to point it out. I plan to add afew extra rivets to the Mk IV/VII marine along one of the legs prior to priming them, when ever the humidity decides that it wants to cooperate with me. Anyway, llet me know what you think. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294443-the-specters-of-ignea/#findComment-3761913 Share on other sites
Strata
The first two Battle brothers have been joined by another three new marines, bringing us to a five man squad. I think that i'll be working on five at a time, building, and then working on painting, i think that it should help to keep me from burning out too quickly as i work on them. I do also have a test figure that i painted up in my proposed scheme, im not too sure what i think of the black sections, so lets hear some advice and some suggestions from my fellow marines. ++ Remember your training, Remember what it is we stand for, what we represent. We are the defenders of humanity, stand steadfast against the horrors of the galaxy. We are everything that humanity represents, its strength, its wisdom, its endurance. Do not waver, do not falter, we will show those who think themselves better then humanity, those who have forsaken our shared duty what happens when you mix the power of the astartes with the will of humanity.++ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294443-the-specters-of-ignea/#findComment-3763034 Share on other sites
Strata
Sorry ive been a bit preoccupied with other things around with what i need to be working on for real life, that i havent been able to get much paint to any of the brothers of nocturn. Well, i was able to find some time to get the Eight, yes, i know, i said i was going to do five at a time.. but ive built Eight marines and gotten them under coated. One of them i was able to slap some paint onto, and aside from needing the sculpted shoulder pads still, i have most of it finished up. I need to figure out the bronze color i want around the shoulder trip, and im trying to decide if i should go and pick out the rivets in silver, or go with more bronze for that as well. Here's what i have so far, please brothers tell me what you think. Strata
So its been afew days since my last update. I'd been meaning to work on my Salamanders, but as it would turn out, my pot of Nuln oil decided it would be better served splashed out across my desk, rather then sitting in its pot.. needless to say that put a hold on any work i was able to do untill i found a replacement. I think ive settled on my metals now, my next plan is to figure out what i want to do with some flame work.
