sunspear
I have the stormclaw set and some other bits to go with it and i am wanting to build the termies but i am not sure how to go about it. I am fairly new (having been out since 5th). I see some lists that keep them all relatively the same and others that mix it up. What r some optimal builds and what is the difference with keeping the same loadouts or mixing? Thanks for any guidance. skeletoro
There really is no way of answering this until we have actual points costs confirmed, to be honest. Frater Cornelius
I guess most tactical questions will lead into a dead end until we get to see the new codex. Mines arriving on Friday and I am giddy as a lil' schoolgirl on christmas looking forward to carnage and bloody glory. Also, there will be a Grimnar supplement, similar to Ghazgul, so there might be even more options and/or quirks for PAWG and TDAWG. My guess is that only the supplement will make them troops and Loganwing will move to the supplement. Having said all that, should things remain mostly the same I think your best bet will be: a) play Loganwing and equip front guys with SS and pack some heavy weapons b) a melee threat from a LR or that new flier as a sort of deathstar (though I suppose TWC will still be the superior option, especially if that -10 point cost is true) c) drop them in with combi weapons to support alpha strike (PAWG do the same for less) d) don't use them The thing with Terminators is that they are too damn expensive to be a specialized unit. Most of the time it requires you to build an army around them. Here is my personal suggestion: if Pack Leaders still exist in the new book and you really insist on taking TDAWG, use them as pack leaders to add durability to your Grey Hunters or Long Fangs. Squark
If terminator pack leaders are still a thing, Combi-weapons matching the squad they're in and Power mauls (clip the power cords on the thunder hammers. Poof! Power warhammers!) will be useful (Unless combi-weapons cost 10 points on terminator pack leaders, but... we don't know) I wouldn't bet on Loganwing remaining possible, so don't count on that. Space Wolf Terminators can be used as a meta-buster (Compare to Codex Marine Honor Guard), but you need to know your meta well and will likely need to scavenge a lot of bits. Also, if they lose access to drop pods it'll be a lot harder to use them in that capacity. EDIT: Terminators do not add durability to squads, at least with regards to shooting. They're too expensive for that. What they do add is assault capability in the form of discounted power weapons and a 2+ save for challenges (Where it is actually is a durability upgrade due to how rare AP 2 at innitiative is). And, if Pack leader terminators keep the discount on combi-weapons normal terminators do, they're also good for that. Teetengee
Alternatively magnetise! I hear termies are pretty easy to do so with. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294567-new-player-how-to-equip-termie-wolf-guard/#findComment-3763768 Share on other sites
Valerian
Alternatively magnetise! I hear termies are pretty easy to do so with. Definitely magnetize, and I've got a good link in my signature block for a tutorial on that, but folks should still wait for the codex, so they know what parts to magnetize. Teetengee
although, you may as well start with maging the power axes/swords/shields/spears/fists and claws, as you will probably want to try most (all) of them out at some point.
