Vote: Manticore or Deathstrike

Hey folks!

I have 2 more Manticore / Deathstrike kits now and I was wondering what I should build. I have 1 Manticore already, and was wondering what I should do with the other 2:

1. 2 Deathstike Missiles

2. 1 Deathstrike and another Manticore,

3. 2 More Manticore

4. Make something else with the hull from the 3rd.

How many of each of these 2 are in your army? What would be a better setup in a game?

Thanks everyone!

Deathstrike, you target the enemy's A team and erase it from the battlefield. The next turn when he is still trying to recover from the shock you add an insult to the injury and start cruising at max speed with the launch platform, ramming and tank shocking everything in range.

It will draw fire and that's a good thing. Your opponent gets minor satisfaction when that doomsday devices blows up while your more valuable units got round or two without being shot at.

Since you've got one Manticore already I'd suggest making a second one, and a Deathstrike.

Making and fielding two Deathstrikes would be hilarious, but unlikely to earn you friends! :D Nor would you be likely to be able to get both launched the next time you played the same opponent.

If you play Apocalypse enough, you will NEED three to five Deathstrikes. Holding them in strategic reserve until after the first break, or if no breaks then after turn two, bring them on in hiding so you can launch three of them the following turn. If you have more than three and can resist waiting until the turn number is one less than the unit size. The result? Vortex missiles rain down with your foes only getting a single turn to prevent it! devil.gif

As for the idea that Deathstrikes are not fitting in Guard, think of them as 40K equivalents of Scud missiles. Admittedly 40K outside of Apocalypse makes the idea of launching at the same battlefield a little much, but what's a little friendly fire among friends?

After fielding a manticore recently I would definitely lean towards going for more manticore's.

It took 2 hull points off a predator, wiped out a heavily equipped scout squad, mutilated various tactical squads and wounded the enemies hq before finally succumbing to lascannon fire on turn 6, so who knows what 3 could do!
