Eberious does...World Eaters! Khorne:Term lord finished!

Heresy I know giving I'm a devout Black Templar and no doubt I'll get a paddlin.  But I've had this Defiler lying around for years. Bought it shortly after they were released and didn't do much with it. Painted for my level at the time so it basically base coated and was left to collect dust. However,  in light of Grotsmasher's Relics of War challenge the dust has been blown away and the inner demon awakened.

 

 So after clearing it with Grotsmasher, I've stripped back the gubbins that decorated it, removed the ram and so on. The finished model will be base coat, probably white so the finished result can be seen properly. Will also be moderately converted as...., 'not codex legal, rule of cool' and 'no part restrictions' were mentioned.  

 

Anyways, a possible road to the dark Gods, blood and as much skulls as I can handle begins here. But, we'll see.

 

Not much to look at just now, just wanted to get a  'before' shot and the mandatory pot-o-bits I've pillaged from my bitz boxes.

Managed to come up with a budget of £15 for this project, so have some shiny bits on the way.

lil update, came home from work to see one order of bits arrived this morning .

So with a little readjustment of the middle pair leg joints I got the legs and claws positions done tonight, and some of the torso/head area. Wanted the motion of it clanking along, raising up at the front to attack. I believe I caught it?

Hmmm, this'll be interesting. As the other Khorne Defiler vowed, seems you've headed for a close combat/Fiend bits direction, whereas I've taken a fire support/scrap bits route.

Aye, I do enjoy close combat above all else. But I plan to use magnets to allow weapon swaps.

Managed to get some modeling time in today. Decided to use some guitar wire for the first time, worked out pretty well. Just waiting on a armour plate to arrive in the post. Will be placed over the neck/spine area, shouldn't cover up the detailing I've done. If it does, I'll have to improvise something to make sure I don't hide the work that went into the neck.

This looks like it could be a fresh take on a pretty dated model. Looking forward to seeing it all come together. I do love the Defiler kit though and your work on the neck area is looking good.

Thanks Biohazard, it certainly is a dated model, still one of a favorite kits though. A few improvements GW could do to make it better are the front claws, multi-part limbs and power scourge. 

 

Bit of an update, with the head placement and the cannon being an auto include as always part of the weapon load, I rigged up the right arm into a cannon and part plasticarded a loader for the shells up top. Extended the bulk to show the 'workings' of the cannon.

Torso. 

 

A I replaced the reaper auto-cannons with the battle cannon, moved the reapers or heavy bolters onto the main body. now, that all the bits have arrived I managed to get the fancy bits stuck on. Anyways, pics say it better than words.

Got a lot done today after doing a grand total of sod all yesterday. Helped that I had several hours to myself today. A side note, listening to (old school) Sepultura really..really helps the Chaos flow.

Good work fella, suffering from no time and lack of creativity here, but it's interesting that bar the tusks (mine are smaller, more elephant-like positioning) that the two ideas are worlds apart.

Making some good progress, got the bulk of the power scourge done(just decoration to do, if any), magnetised as well. some chains with hooks on the front legs and underneath. Also made some Khorne symbols.

IMO no tongue. It still is a demon machine and I don't think a tongue would fit with the rest of your model. Especially since the rest of the head is really mechanical and not a lot of 'flesh'.

Thanks all, was in two minds about it. The missus like the tongue but like you said works better without it. ...Oh, ..just re-read the comments, a mechanical tongue would fit perhaps....will make one and see how it fits.

 

Sadly it won't be painted until after the 1st/2nd of august.

Mechatendril if you want a tongue maybe? I think it would be a cool addition (disables enemies in close combat by injecting them with some obliterator style virus? Mechanical stuff :cusss down and flesh starts to mutate uncontrollably)

If you can get a mechatendril from the warpsmith, the one with the skull and many eyes on it I think that'd be awesome for a tongue

That one from the warpsmith is pretty cool. Played around with a mock up mechanical tongue and have decided to run without it. Thanks for the ideas, will keep for future models.

 

Little work on the Khorne symbol.  I now have a 3 variant skull molds(only used 2, last was to big) and a Khorne symbol cardboard template for this lot. With a few raised panels, rivets and spikes.. its ready. Some hooks on the back and dark parchments or what ever the chaos equivalent to purity seals are.

The new undercoat solves my main problem with your Defiler, namely the fact that the remains of the older paintjob were so distracting when looking at the model ;)

 

It's an absolutely stunning piece now, and you've nicely managed to update the parts of the defiler kit that haven't aged all that well. Great job!

 

On a mostly unrelated note, can I just add that I love the way you've used bitz on your Templar Knight in order to create detail on the leg armour and shoulder pads?
