Well, that Heldrake is doing my censored.gif head in. Almost completed the base, when it came to the point it simply won't censored.gif censored.gif work! also had a change of mind for the base. Wanted the base to tie in with the defiler, so the ruined building section doesn't follow the flow.

So some cork board has been ordered in, will be perched atop a rocky crag type thing.

So for the time being I have distracted myself with this little project. Bull bike for the biker lord! Gonna see if I can get the rider in a more real way to ride a bike, position.

Some greenstuffing on the main part , top is spine and ribs, lower bit are skulls, some skulls in by the feet and exhaust grills.

You know, I've just realised that I've used the exact same right and left shoulder pads, in on the same sides as the jugger Lord!  lol

Thanks Oldschoolsoviet, I don't usually give my models bare heads, safety first take your helmet, bolter rounds tend to explode heads fairly well, and I hate, actually hate painting skin tones. But wanted a little character to this one. Did fit it with a few different helmets but I couldn't decide on any. The missuses vote tipped it in favour of the one used. 

 

There will be more bare skin (let it be man or demon)in this army than the odd few cannon fodder neophytes with the occasional initiate in my Templar army.  So should be a learning curve I've avoided for the better part of my hobby years.

@KrautScientist, the new kits , and indeed whfb range are a god send. Without whf range I think 40k chaos/other armies would be a tad bland without major effort. 

 

@ElDuderino, its a juggernaught body alright. Was lucky with this one. Had bought the set off ebay, one was part made, the other used for my jugger lord the last one left just happened to be the body with no bend/twist in the torso. And yeah, the chaos bikes are lacking a little, I've got a handful of standard SM bikes waiting to be made into chaotic goodness.

Progress once again halted on the Heldrake, need to pick up some milliput for the base, so might pop out a warp talon champion this evening.

Warp talon Champion, one talon down, nine to go.

Had fun with this one, its a basic simple pose but fell into place and worked so well I think. Standing over its prey. Dead guy's got chest puncture wounds and the top of his head has been sliced off (dammit, forgot to model brains).

Wanted to show the talons slow warping into a predatory creature, head and rough greenstuff in the gaps between armour and neck area to represent twisted flesh worked well I think. The head is meant to be more helmet than bare head, hopefully this will come across once painted. Although, I feel it still works.

My only problem is that I don't have enough bits(any where near it) to make more than one more looking the same-ish. sad.png On the other hand maybe they shouldn't look the same being the champion and all he would look more far gone?

Ah... okay... that's awesome. Greatest Warp Talon ever.

 

 

Also, if I was ever to build Warp Talons, I would make Talons really gribbly and the Champion more of a handler type, but hey, not my models,but yours. ;)

@Kriegsmacht, yes it is. I have another of the same torso I managed to find, with the left shoulder pad that goes with it, still trying to find the right one sad.png. Got the other chosen as bits-fodder but not sure they will work as well. But we'll see.

@The Psycho, that never crossed my mind. But I have started this path. Would their uncontrollable nature allow for such a handler though?

I am normally not a big fan of heavily mutated and/or possessed Marines, but that model is just fantastic -- as you said, it seems undergo an actual evolution into a more fitting shape, instead of just a sudden development of tentacles or other odd mutations. Absolutely amazing! I'll probably have to steal that idea ;)

@Krautscientist, hey dude thanks very much:). I wasn't to much of a fan of the mutated flesh either until I fell to chaos, I do like heavy armour, no weak spots. I do try not to go over board with this lot as they are Khorne after all, not nurgle. Feel free to steal away, I will be from yours msn-wink.gif

I saw you wavering with regards to the ETL and where you should pledge. Based on this plog and that truly splendid Warp Talon, you should pledge for Chaos. You're clearly enjoying the hell out of Chaos stuff at the moment, you may as well paint where the passion is.

 

Plus that Warp Talon needs squadmates, and they all need paint.

Thanks very much all, comments very much appreciated. Other than another one Talon, they will look more marine than creature due to taste and, mostly lack of bits. Which is fine. It would be a pleasure to see similar variations of it, so by all means lets see em. :)
