Eberious does...World Eaters! Khorne:Term lord finished!

Thanks very much both.

The bases were looking a bit empty, so the ones above have had skeletal remains added(ribs, spines skulls, the usual)

Knocked a few more out, managed to get two done last night. Was on a roll, as these arms with actual fingers are awkward. I was well on my way on the procrastination train..in the living room...playing Gran turismo.

Wanted to mix up the heads, now that I've run out of DV chosen heads that I can use. So the ol berserker head fits well, being slightly similar to the ol raptor heads I'm fond of. Will be using another for one of the next 3 to be done.
I found these arms a pain to get a decent pose on, kinda wish the set came with nothing but the finger claws.

I just came across your blog here and I have started to hate you. Once again I think I am doing well and that someone comes along with a true level of skill. Bravo, those are some great conversions there. Love the defiler, even leaves me wanting one. So curse you on that front :)

Looking forward to following your progress.

Thanks thousand Eyes, I'll try and not make you hate me to much. tongue.png

Last of the Talons, and the first one is need of a hug.

The little green splodge is a mark of Khorne. All 10 have them as of yersterday.

From any other angle, this one looks like hes ice skating, so this is the only decent pic. Have to say that the two sets of arms with the hands separate, I hate. The appearance of the fist/blades is fine, its just the dam way the arms are shaped and the open right ham fist. Such a pain to model.

Used chosen fists for this one as had enough of said arms that come in the kit. Had to replace the top two talons on each with tyranid claws due to poor molding.

progress on the Heldrake, plan B for the base.

Not quite finished sculpting the rock, and first time doing so on such a large scale. Stands same height as the flying stand for the Drake.

Drake tail.

Also been meaning to share this and keep forgetting, the 'kids' (3 and 7) got it for my birthday.

Says 'tea for the tea god' on the other side.

c&c welcome.

Thanks Kriegsmacht, the mug is rather shiny. The tail segments will be like bonded fleshmetal with greenstuff, currently on a wire fed through the middle of each bit. Will be able to bend it into a more dynamic position once I know just how the drake will sit on the rock. probably bent up like a cats tail with a bit of a curve. Once again changed my mind on the overall position on the model, had to break the arms off..again.

Anyways, ETL time and my vow.

Thing is, I don't think that his basing choice is really affecting the footprint for the Helldrake. It's still the same size, and if he doesn't give it a huge pin to hold the actual model to the base, it should be about the same height as the flight stand. There's a lot of opportunity to put some serious character into the base, too! happy.png

Here's hoping you got your vow in in time for the ETL deadline! smile.png

Thanks both.

@Thousand eyes, go big or go home was pretty much what I was thinking when I started the model, both base and the drake itself. Now I'm wishing that I just went home. lol.

@ Vel'cona, Indeed it is. Both the building idea and the rock were measured against how high the Heldrake sits when on the stand. So when I get this thing done it will stand the same height as it would if just on the flying stand. Done this mainly to keep within game limits, didn't want something to low as could be called out for modeling for advantage/cheating basically, and not to high to avoid difficulties in hiding it from line of sight. The tail might stand higher but as far as in game it won't count as something that can be targeted as not part of the original model.

Love base work, do have to limit myself at times not to over power the model itself, which is why I dropped the building idea. Once I done a test fit the building was just on the big size and made the drake smallish looking. The rock, has no exact size bearing, so should work. It better as I ain't doing anything else. This is it.

However, I came to point last night with the new position I want the drake to be in that there will only be 2 feet(the rear) on the base. This makes for a flimsy joint and likely to break. So going to have to use the top part of the flying stand and fix it to the base at the right angle and height so the drake can be held on with that rather than gluing it directly to the rock. Will just make it easier for transport as well.

And yes I did. Heaps of time before the deadline, at least 24hrs, something like that. lol.

Honestly, good basing is probably the best kept secret of top painters/modelers. If you've got a lovely painted model sitting on a plain green/flocked base, you lose so much of the power and presence of the model. With this in mind, I can think of a few upcoming projects that are going to get some serious basing-work, inspired primarily by what I've seen here! smile.png

Thanks both,

@Venomlust, loving the contemptor of Khorne in your blog, looks like hes running along chopping the legs off Titans.

@Vel'Cona, +1, and look forward to seeing what you come up with.

How did you find the Corax White? One of my mates went through two cans spraying not much less than that. Just seemed like you got a lot less in the can compared to Skull White.

The corax goes on really well, better than that last version of primer from GW. Least to say I'm impressed with it, a lot. I managed to coat the above lot minus the defiler which was already done. 3 vypers, a wraith knight and a wraith lord (I think).  Still plenty left in the can, judging by the weight after use, I reckon there's enough to do the lot above once over. Possibly a bit more.

Obviously not sure how he was applying it, but he must of been going full hog on the thing to use up that much.

I generally give short bursts about the recommended distance, sometimes closer. Did the lot above on a mildly windy day as well, so probably more lost due to the wind(ETL doesn't wait for the weather).Give it the once over, then right after just another quick light layer. Unless he was trying to get it to come white as possible the can should cover a fair amount of stuff.

Well, didn't realise its been so long since from the last up date. This year a flown by.

Couldn't get the camera to focus 100%, he's meant to have glowing eyes, but might just repaint them to be normal and dark.

First gore attempt worked out pretty well.

sprue, came with more than I thought. smile.png

Currently in the middle of a standard unit of troops. Then it'll be modeling time for the beast above.

Few thoughts of what I could do with the base.

diorama. rhino sawed in half ultra marines sprawled about, holding one above its head gore dripping down on a scratch built left or right hand.

a pulverized semi scratch built dread + gore n stuff.

general terrain, bones, skulls and the like??

so A,B or C ?

any other ideas you could see working well?

Well, haven't got much done, hit that hobby burn out again. Least to say the Titan hasn't been shown the slightest of attention.

Ease back into it with something small. Started my Terminator Lord, my W.E  warband leader. No name yet, will think of one soon.

Wanted to make him unnaturally taller.

As always, c&c welcome.

Once finished he'll have multiple weapon load outs.

Thanks all,

@TOMMY, thanks and sadly, not yet. The biker is the only one. The main issue was that the red I ended up with was to bright. When I painted the biker I had to repaint it khorne red then highlight up. I was hoping a thickish wash (of different shades red/black) over the red would do the trick but was not so. The air brush in the pic is not mine so after the group shot my mate needed it back. Recently got my own, so once back up to speed I'll revisit that lot and get it done. Possibly get the defiler painted just after I finish the modeling on the Lord.

eidt: I tell a lie, I've painted the tactical squad. Just never got around to trying ti get decent pics of them.
