Eberious does...World Eaters! Khorne:Term lord finished!

Thanks both.

@Thousand Eyes, really?   having a good look at it here and an outside opinion from my work mate. I think the thing that's throwing it a little might be the size of the head. Looks fine in RL, it might even get a head swap before the end as only blu-taked in there at the moment.

Was the one thing I was most aware of when making him this high. Having the torso any higher would of made the torso to long. I even had to make him a little taller than I was planning to get the hip armour sitting right. It's all good though, its not a perfect science. :P

Managed to get one shoulder pad done last night, a whole night and one shoulder pad...... ruddy online gaming distractions.

As far as I can see I've finished my lord, leader of my WE war band. Let him go forth and pillage, burn and....pillage.

Made him as decorated as possible without going to OTT, that way I'll aim to keep those lower than him less blingy and there fore not spend so much real ££'s. That's the plan anyways. Was going to add a crow sitting on his top somewhere but run out of room.

Tried to capture him at rest surveying the battle field with the wind blowing from a back side angle, hence the billowing cape and tassel things at the top. Not quite what I wanted but had to leave room for the arm positions and swaps.

Also with the scale torso vs leg, it looks like he missed leg day giving the overall width from shoulder pad to pad. Its the skulls that throwing that off.

Anyways, I might add some more small details to him before painting.

I present Drachkhar.

Armed with the black mace, a little big but was getting bored of doing things in size to make sense.

Wow, that is an incredible model, made even cooler by the versatility of having so many different loadouts for it. Brilliant! One thing, though: He really needs some kind of loincloth underneath that crotch armour plate, if you ask me.

That skull is from an Yr'Ghul (not sure of the spelling), a humanoid scavenger used by the Dark Eldar -- there's even a Finecast model for them.

EDIT: One small request: Could you maybe post a photo of the combi-bolter/Hellblade combo for me? Pretty please? ;)

Thanks KS, a Lords gotta keep his options open. And yes, was thinking of chains or something. Couldn't decide and forgot about it. Knocked a loin cloth up in place. looks good, improved the overall model, so thanks. thumbsup.gif

Was 100% sure on how to do traitor loyalists that have recently went renegade, maybe there is no direct way?

cause why not.

Painting these guys made me realise something....I hate painting red. oh dear. picked the wrong god to follow.

Thanks so much for the added pictures -- possibly my favourite weapon combo (from a purely visual standpoint, that is). But then, they are all so cool. A definite YES to the loincloth, although some dangling chains might look even better. The other models are equally fantastic -- the only thing I am not quite sold on is the paintjob for the recently turned Ultramarines -- what about creating a less abrupt transition by daubing red paint on the blue armour plates and only letting some of the blue remain, to make it look like they've been hastily painted over? Or maybe use some blood spatters to tie it all together?

Oh, and if it's any consolation to you, I have yet to meet a WE player who actually likes painting red -- it comes with the territory, I suppose ;)

Anyway, brilliant work all around, slaughter-brother!

I really like all of that. I was going to say he needed a tabard, but you have solved that already. (Though you may want to extend it slightly, as it helps mask the leg day issue). As for the recently turned, I think they look really good, it is instantly clear that they are recent renegades. If you want to tie in some red over the blue portions, some scratches of bftbg or khorne red would probably work. I wouldn't try to make them look too hastily painted though, as such differences wouldn't really show up at this scale very much, and often make it just look like you hastily painted them, (or so I have heard).

Hey! I love painting red! (though my current status as a WE player is a bit debatable. That's something that's gonna change pretty soon though.)

Marvelous conversion, Eberious! So completely OTT, but still looks brutal enough for a Khornate lord. The addition of a loincloth just ties it all together, though.

Cool, thanks very much all. Appreciate the feed back :)

With the abrupt change in armour colours on the traitors, I was in two minds. There was the, should it be more of a creeping transformation of colour and do whats been suggested, or make it look like armour replacements as their own got damaged and not having the resources to repair them.

Will certainly integrate the creeping idea more as I paint more of them. Experimentation is whats its all about.

Going to try and stay strict and paint all of the Lord and options before I go on to do anything else........we'll see how strong my resolve is on that.

Thanks Thousand eyes. Just remembered, the head is still blu tacked in, lol. Might still change the head in this case. Maybe a more rough/demonic  look to him giving he has spikes growing out the top of his already.

Have ordered this head for maybe something down the line, giving the slight scale increase AOS game has now it might no quite fit at all.

Thoughts?

Magnetising is always an option, of course, especially given your impressive track record with it on this model. However, I have to say that the horned head just seems like a step too much for me. The head you have now is so cool precisely because it's a bit more restrained.

If you are going to magnetise an alternate head, why not go for a helmeted option?

MOAR HORNS!!!!

Sorry my MUTATION is acting up......

In all seriousness though, I think that guy would look great in a lot of different heads, and if you are up for it magnetizing his head could allow you to add all the different heads you want over time.

Sorry if I keep jabbering away about this, but it's something I've been putting a lot of thought into for my own Chaos Lord: I think combining a pretty ornate and archaic suit of armour with a head like this is to make the character more relatable, somehow. The best parts of the background really play up the tragic angle of the Chaos Space Marines, how they are more than just mustache-twirling villains or utterly monstrous quasi-daemons, and this can be especially rewarding to pull off on a follower of Khorne, especially since so many Khornate Lords are just depicted as blood crazed madmen.

I think you've really created a very effective combination with that head, because it makes him look grizzled and dangerous and menacing, but also like a proud warrior. At the same time, the relative simplicity of the head really pulls the eye, more than that almost hilariously over-designed Varanguard head would. In fact, the one bare face that might work as a worthy replacement would be the one-eyed one from the Chaos Lord on Manticore -- and even that seems to be based on the same face, come to think of it.

As for the matter of magnetising multiple heads, this is just my personal taste, but I think that would lead to the character feeling somewhat interchangeable, for lack of a better word -- but then, when I look at a model, I don't see it as Chaos Lord X with loadout Y, but rather as "Lord Charun, Master of the Harriers and Chosen of Khorne" ;) That said, a helmeted alternative would be interesting, but I am pretty sure that you already have the ideal head as is.

Phew, sorry, I'll shut up now ;)

Thanks all, very much.

And no, KS. The feedback is exactly what makes this forum great. So it is very welcome. And to be honest I couldn't of put that middle paragraph any better. Twas exactly what I was going for.

I would like all your comments but we only get so many,  :)

Well, as promised to myself. I've actually primed the Lord and all the bits not more than 20 minutes ago. Might even get the first layer of red on tonight. For me that's a record, models usually have to sit for a year before painting starts.

Oh sweet lord, Khorne would be proud of his new plaything, seriously though, that model easily ranks in the top three of my favourite ive seen in all time, the conversion is so slick and it easily looks like it can be a new kit, the details are amazing, and the use of skullreapers kit....... i really like every part of your thread so far, now to go back and like every picture....
