Speaking from my own painful experience, I'd say: Paint while the motivation is there, as your muse can be a fickle b...erm  a fickle lady ;) You can always knock together another Chaos Lord for RTL, should the need arise. Besides, I really, really want to see this guy painted ASAP! :)

Amazing, stuck to guns and painted this to finish between some Eldar jetbikes and a lot more gaming did delay it a little bit. 

 

Head shot, quite possibly the best paint job on a bare head I've done yet. Wanted to something a bit further than I normally do with bare skin and give him a tattoo. Was blue but it blended in with the skin tone to much. The red gets lost a little bit in the armour but stands out better on the skin.

All the options I want except one. Have a burning brand of skalantrax or whatever it is that I need to modify to fit his right hand.(the one on the biker lord.

Hmm, he definitely needs something in his right hand, like a chain with skulls on it or something. ...maybe not so finished as I thought. :( . is for now though.

I really dislike that mace; it looks like a marshmallow roaster or something. The rest of the model and various weapons look excellent though. And the tattoo looks good but I think you should have stuck with blue in the end.

I like him, and although I can see the mace detractors, I think it fits well with the madness of chaos for it to be so oversized.

Mate, this is some spectacular work. I really like the muted tones you have here. I'm not sure how I feel about the mace either way to be honest the other load outs look great.

Wwwwwow. I don't post often anymore, but had to pipe up here - this dude is one serious BAMF. Absolutely love it (and as a counter-point to some others, I really dig the mace!).

An absolutely incredible model, and a very nice paintjob to boot! I really love the facial tattoos in red, because they recall Angron's warpaint as well as the face of a particularly angry Spartan we all know ;)

 

I am not too bothered about the mace: It's not my favourite option (that honour still belongs to the sword and combi-weapon combo, surprisingly enough), but it does immediately read as the Black Mace simply by virtue of being so freking big.

 

I do have two very minor points of critique. One is that I think the somewhat hasty photography may be selling the paintjob a bit short, actually. For instance, if you just auto-tweak the pictures' white levels, they end up looking something like this:

 

 

And I think the extra contrast really works in the model's favour.

 

My one legitimate crticism of the paintjob itself is the cape: I think the inside could have been painted in a slightly brighter tone, so as to serve as a better framing device for the model's body -- but then, again, this problem may also be due to the lighting in the photos. I don't really see where the green on the outside of the cape came from, though -- I think you should have gone with something more neutral there.

 

But those are just very minor quibbles, and they don't change anything about the fact that the model rules. I want to own this guy so badly! Excellent stuff! :)

Thanks very much all for the comments and feed back. I thought that the mace would get more crit than the other weapon options. It does look a little odd, maybe if it didn't have the larger blades on it. I like it though. It's 5th version of mace I made, so it ain't changing now, lol. 

 

@KrautScientist, many thanks, I was running out of decent light at the time, but what you did there does certainly improve it. The green for the cape was a result of wanting to go for a different shade than normally seen(from what I've seen anyways). The insdie of the cape is lighter then appears, my camera just plain sucks tbh. :( 

 

Aaand, just when I though I was done, I see hes got a splodge of white paint on his left elbow armour plate...I'm really confused how it got there.??

 

 

Looking forward to a kill team game this Thursday eve and might be running a chaos team with a Rhino. Had a standard one looked out ready to chaos-o-fy when rummaging around through my bits boxes when I came across an old Leman russ tank, inspiration struck and thought chaos is limited with supplies etc, could be cool to make a old skool looking rhino of sorts.

 

Some really early mockup shots to get the general picture. The normal Rhino makes it looks small but comparing the two I need to make a little extension to the back bit for troop capacity, and over the top to fit two top hatches and the havoc launcher on the back. Might be a lot of work just for a rhino though. Anyways,

Also shouldn't stand to much taller than a normal Rhino.
